We stayed at Auberge Château Lamontagne in Sainte-Anne-des-Monts on May 30th. The check-in process was smooth and welcoming. Our room was small but cozy, and the highlight was the spectacular view overlooking the St. Lawrence River. The scenery alone made for a memorable stay.
We also enjoyed dinner at the hotel's restaurant, which was delicious, and throughout the evening the staff were friendly, attentive, and welcoming.
Unfortunately, our experience the following morning was disappointing. There was no hot water in the hotel, and initially there was no one available at reception to provide information. After some time, we were informed that there was no hot water available, but no estimate could be given as to when the issue would be resolved.
As a result, we had to leave without being able to shower, the option being taking a shower in ice cold water. This was particularly frustrating after a long day of driving the previous day and with another full day of travel ahead of us. While we understand that unexpected maintenance issues can occur, the lack of communication and response to the situation was disappointing. At the very least, a goodwill gesture or some form of compensation would have demonstrated that the hotel recognized the significant inconvenience caused to its guests.
Overall, the property offers beautiful views, good food, and friendly service, but the handling of this issue left us with mixed feelings about our stay.
