Beautiful and Relaxing
Fun, relaxing stay. Enjoyed the beautiful sunsets over the lake and the lovely surrounding area on long walks with our dog. Place was clean with a nice kitchen were we often cooked meals. Good communication with host. Good internet allowed us to work remotely at times. Would highly recomend.

Great spot!
We really enjoyed this home which is close to Lewiston but in a secluded and peaceful place. The home is very clean, well stocked (although we did not cook), and private. Paul was very responsive and a great host! We would highly recommend booking here if available. Thank you Paul!

Absolutely recommend
The host was a great communicator and the house was exactly as described. The location is terrific in that it has easy lake access, off a dirt road away from any traffic, yet easy to get to local hiking trails and stores. The house had everything we could have asked for to either remain connected to the outside world (good wireless) or disconnect from the outside world (multiple decks without chairs on each). The host did a great job communicating and answering any questions. We would absolutely recommend this as a place to stay.

Hidden Gem
Our family had to stay in the area because of estate issues of our late Mom. We chose this location because we just didn't want to be cooped up in a hotel. This place really rocked!!! We all felt so relaxed and we utilized the huge kitchen that was equipped with everything we needed to make our meals. The decks off the back of the living room and the master bedroom are wonderful. Experiencing the autumn leaf change in this home should be just stunning! Our host was very attentive to our needs and requests. We will be back!

A lovely getaway!
We had a lovely time here over the weekend for a last minute getaway out of the city. The property was clean and the hosts were very considerate, and put out towels and the lake toys for us! The property is definitely steep, so be mindful if you have young kids or older family. Overall, an easy and beautiful stay.

Well appointed guesthouse which is behind the main house. The property is very nice but it is steep. Not a problem for us, in fact I welcomed the challenge of going up/down to the dock after a long trip. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The host, Paul was so kind & got some kayaks for us after his disappeared. Even brand new life jackets & paddles-that was so appreciated. Fishing poles were also provided. My kids caught tons of fish-5 different species. My son is an avid fisherman & caught too many to count. He was thrilled! Would absolutely stay again. Hopefully, my son will attend college nearby (fingers crossed). Thank you Paul!

Wonderful spot for a getaway!
We spent two nights with our family here for our son’s graduation from Bates College. Our communications with the owner were clear, timely, and helpful. The house is exactly as described in the listing and immaculately clean and the beds are quite comfortable. The kitchen is more than functional - we were able to make a celebratory meal for 11 without difficulty. We didn’t spend a lot of time on property with all of the events to attend, but we did go down to the lake briefly on a very hot afternoon, and the water was gloriously refreshing! We also loved listening to the loons calling at night. All in all this is a beautiful spot and the owner was an absolute pleasure to work with - you should definitely go!

Great get away in Maine
Our family of 3 and our 3 dogs spent some time at this lovely house in Wales while we visited a grandson in Lisbon Maine. Our host was very accommodating and the home was just what we needed. This immaculately kept home is spacious and there are 2 decks to sit out on to enjoy the view. Waking up in the huge master suite and opening the shades to look out upon the lake was a great way to start our day. Our dogs loved running around in the woods and getting down to the pier. Would love to go here in swimming weather as there are boats available and , of course, a swim in the lake!

We were delighted by our stay at Sailor's Rest. The location was beautiful and hosts so accommodating. We came for a weekend to visit Bates. Nice to have such a comfortable and calm respite for us and our dog!

Labor Day at the lake
Thanks Paul for a great weekend. Our golden retriever loved the escape from the city with a large yard and open space. We enjoyed being able to take the kayaks out and enjoy snacks on the dock during sunset. The stars at night were incredible. Was super appreciative how accommodating Paul was.

Relaxation Destination
Paul was an amazing host, so accommodating, and Sailor's Rest exceeded our expectations. Our goal was to relax and unwind and we did just that. The home had everything we needed to be at home away from home, with the added bonus of a gorgeous lake. More than once a family member commented to me how they felt so relaxed and at home on this vacation. We made many memories and if we're back in the area will definitely stay again.

We had a fantastic week staying here! One daughter learned to fish, Kayaks were awesome to paddle around the pond, which is size of lake, beautiful sunsets on the dock, and just relaxing! Paul was an awesome host and absolutely one of the best hosts as far as communication! We want to come back again:)

We had a great time at Paul’s house. He was beyond helpful and accommodating to us, allowing us to stay later than anticipated. He also stocked the house with some goodies for our arrival. Above and beyond. Only note is that for those with mobility issues, there are steps to get in the front door and the hill to the lake is very steep so not useable for anyone who can’t navigate hills.

Great house
Had a great time. My kids loved being able to jump off the dock into the water. They also had a huge room upstairs for the kids, which they thought was fun. Only wish the path to the lake was less steep and the house was a bit closer to the water. The host was great and very attentive to our needs. There was a great butcher shop in town, which sounds weird to mention, but we had the best steaks we have ever had from there.

Perfect Place to Stay
This is our 3rd time staying at Sailor’s Rest. Stephen is a great host; great communicator, available when needed but very respectful of one’s privacy. Sitting on the deck is so relaxing and we love the view of the lake through the pines, especially at sunset. Anytime we come to Maine, this will be where we stay.

Love it Here!
This is a repeat stay and we have already reserved another stay. We love staying here! Paul is a dream to communicate with and the property is always ready for us. Paul checks with us regularly to make sure we have everything we need. The kitchen is well equipped. The second floor bedroom is our favorite place to sleep with a fabulous view of the lake through the pine trees. What a great place to relax with decks on both floors. And it’s a short walk down to the lake and a delightful place to sit and watch birds and just plain relax. Can’t wait to return!

We had a wonderful stay at Sailor’s Rest! We were there for a wedding which my son and daughter-in-law were attending! We were the babysitters! Our grandsons loved it. We explored and they did a little fishing. The weather wasn’t the best but we made the best of it!! It is a beautiful spot and our hosts were fabulous they were right on top of answering all my questions and giving information that was requested. We would definitely stay here again! So sorry for the delay in reviewing the property…I did it once and it mustn’t have submitted!

Fantastic experience
I cannot say enough about how wonderful Stephen and Paul are. The communications were excellent, the house was everything we could have wanted, including comfortable beds and a stocked pantry (complete with coffee and filters!), and the property is so pretty and wonderfully quiet. The layout of the house was perfect for us. We were in Maine for work, so we did not get to enjoy the lake, other than taking some pictures of it, but I will definitely be back! Thank you so much, Stephen and Paul - and thanks for the bottle of wine!

We had a much-needed relaxing stay. We had everything we needed to cook a few meals, and the owner recommended a restaurant which was excellent. The sunsets were beautiful from the dock. My wife and I enjoyed the fine views and sitting on the porches in the several cool evenings in early August. The location is near enough to Portland and Boothbay to make both fun day trips. Enjoyable, relaxing stay
Our stay at Sailor's Rest was great for my husband, 12-year-old son and me (and our dog). The property was very clean, and the kitchen was fully stocked for cooking meals and with hand and dish soaps, towels, etc. and a grill outside. The check-in and check-out were simple and they didn't inundate us with a million rules and expectations - awesome to be treated like responsible adults. We were welcomed with a bottle of wine and music playing when we arrived - nice touches that tell you that the owners mean to show you hospitality. The property was peaceful and private from neighbors. The guest house is located behind the owners' house, so it doesn't have a direct lake-front view, but there are partial views and you have full access to the lakefront yard and dock (where my son and dog loved to run around). The location is also conveniently close to highway 95, 1 hour from mid-coast, 45 minutes from Portland, and 2 hours from Acadia National Park if you intend to tour around Maine (which we did). The owners were present during our stay, but we did not interact with them when we were there. We had full use of the dock at the lake and 2 kayaks, and the owners added lounge chairs on the dock, which was nice. We saw amazing bald eagles flying regularly overhead and heard loons on the lake - all were very exciting and new for my son. If I had to make one constructive suggestion, I would suggest that the owners create a more clear pathway from the guest house down to the lake. I love the ruggedness and natural beauty of the property, but the pine needles and ground could be a bit slippery and unstable walking up and down from the lake. People who are less stable on their feet could slip and fall. Even just a slightly cleared pathway with some stepping stones or something would make guests feel welcome to walk down to the lake. All in all, our stay was memorable, enjoyable, and restful. Thank you!

Perfect!
My friends and I are avid Disc Golf players and have always wanted to play the Sabbatus area. The Sailors Rest was the perfect home for my 4 friends and I to rest our heads after a long day on the courses. Stephen and Paul were the best hosts, and were always available to answer questions if needed. The Sailors Rest was perfect and provided just enough room for 5 grown adults. We're already planning our next trip!

Great experience
We had a very comfortable stay at sailors rest. Paul and Steve are amazing hosts. All though they are right next door, you get complete privacy as they never interfere but are always around when you need something. It was extremely cold one of the days during our stay there and we were looking for some board games for the kids to keep them entertained indoors, steve dropped brand new board games on the door within an hour of reaching out to them. The cottage is well equipped and has everything to make it your home away from home

It was the best vacation for us. The house location is beautiful. The sunset from this location was awesome. The house was too clean. Paul and stephen messaged me on the day we had to do the check in to make sure when we were arriving and greeted us .. they also made the kayaks available for us. Stephen was clear, available and unobtrusive. The property was clean and well-equipped. We cooked a couple of meals in the kitchen and found everything we needed. The decks and dock are relaxing. Sailors Rest is a beautiful setting with considerate hosts.

Wonderful fall weekend at Sailor’s Rest!
My son and I stayed at the Sailor’s Rest on our visit to Bowdoin and Bates Colleges. Location was perfect, as was the view of the lake. Stephen was excellent to work with and met us at check-in for a quick overview. The cottage was very charming, clean and well-stocked. Would definitely stay here again.

Steve and Paul shared there charming pond side cottage with us the first part of September and I couldn’t have been more pleased! It was immaculate and the kitchen was so very well stocked to meet any cooking need. I am delighted to have found their gem of a cottage.

Wonderful stay at Sailor's Rest
The property owner contacted us a few days before our anticipated arrival with additional directions to this wonderful, tucked away retreat. We were greeted graciously on arrival, given a quick tour of the amenities, and welcomed to text if we had any questions or needs. They even made offers of suggestions for restaurants or shopping if needed, as we'd never visited Maine before. The house is simply beautiful. Spacious, tastefully decorated and comfortable. Sabattus Pond (very large pond) is very pretty. We thoroughly enjoyed exploring it in our kayaks, supplemented by the kayaks available on property. It's a bit of a steep slope to the water, as I've seen others comment, but a small inconvenience for the pleasure. Fully equipped kitchen and available gas grill saved us money by not eating out once or twice. Our hosts were unobtrusive, but welcoming and available if needed. We would happily stay at Sailor's Rest again. Thanks for a great stay!

A Grand Retreat on a Maine Lake
Our stay was perfect! The house exceeded our expectations. Stephen welcomed us warmly and accommodated an unexpected early arrival. Even though the weather was unseasonably hot, we were very comfortable using the in-room air conditioners and fans. The kitchen is incredibly well equipped, including a microplane and family-sized crock pot. The linens and towels were very good quality, a rarity in a rental. We truly enjoyed our coffee in the morning, sitting on the deck looking out at the lake and watching the Osprey. There were kayaks for us to use and sitting on the dock was most pleasant. At night we could hear the loons! Our hosts were readily available and very responsive. The Internet was very reliable. This is a place we can heartily recommend and to which we are eager to return.
