Lovely B&B in the middle of town. Appreciated that you had options for breakfast and that there was no set time - what you ordered was in the breakfast room fridge and your room table. The sitting room and breakfast room were very cold, there is a heater you can use, supposedly is on a timer but that didn't seem to be working while we were there. Overall, we really enjoyed our stay in Ross.

This property was good value. It had a double bed and 2 singles and was very clean. The main downside was no where to really eat.

We stayed in retreat this did not have breakfast facilities. It was a called garden retreat. No seating in garden. Cane chairs in room for sitting we uncomfortable. Should have been club lounge chairs or 2 seater couch.

Lovely Colonial Accommodation
Unable to give an honest rating for the staff as we didn't meet them. When we arrived, the key to our room was in an envelope in reception (trusting people in Ross). The room was comfortable but the ensuite was a bit squeezy for a tall person. The breakfast arrangements (self serve) were easy to understand and the comlimentry port and after dinner mints appreciated.

Mattress very firm, recommend option electric blanket Y/N. 4 poster bed noisy every time you moved. Chairs uncomfortable. Breakfast only decaf tea, very basic 5/10.

Full of Character- restored historic and quiet
We were the only people staying in the house, although there are several rooms available. We were in a front room facing the street, called the Music Room. This is a historic house so our modern concept of comfort had to be adjusted a little. The room was furnished in 19th century style and a bit crowded with quite a small bathroom squeezed in but it was comfortable and we slept well. I would recommend insect screening or security screening on the windows as the room was a bit too stuffy and I was reluctant to leave the window open while we slept. The breakfast room was sunny and pleasant and there was complimentary port in the small communal lounge with lots of interesting historic magazines to look at. The continental breakfast was a bit disappointing so we ate across the road at the bakery. Check in was a bit surreal as you go into the office and lift a phone receiver, which redirects to talk to the owner who could be in another town.

Comfortable stay in a charming colonial cottage
We arrived at the hotel in the afternoon and could not find the owner. We managed to find the key in an envelope and a note. Apart from that we had a pleasant stay.

Not really as described.
I was promised two bedroom accommodation what I got was one bedroom plus a living room with a bed that could be closed off with a sliding door. Was clean and tidy but seems expensive for this type of accommodation in rural Tasmania esp as it had no character. No sign of the proprietors who left a kay and instructions on the door.

Nice stay in the middle of town
Nice and comfy stay. Not a lot of space, though. When we entered the property, we saw 2 rooms, and weren't sure if the other room would be occupied and whether we would be sharing the bathroom. Will be good to have this info when the booking was confirmed.

Magnificent Cottage house accommodation experience
This lovely little cottage was a delightful experience, and is fitted out in keeping with the decor and furnishings of early English-Australian design, and accompanied with tasteful and modern bathroom facilities off the sleeping area; everything you need is provided. The room itself is beautifully appointed with a great deal of attention to detail to make the travelling experience just wonderful. For example, a four poster bed, and a magnificent bay window which overlooks the front garden onto Church Street. We met other travellers in the breakfast dining room and we all enjoyed a generous continental breakfast in keeping with the style of accommodation. A comfortable lounge room invites travellers to rest up and relax for a while. Highly recommended.

Ross has to offer to tourists. This b&b was good overall. It's a old house. You get a room plus bathroom. If you pay for breakfast you get one.

Not a very happy experience
I was really disappointed because I was told that no breakfast would be provided even though breakfast was advertised. The owner said that the room I booked came with no breakfast because it was the Garden Room and we could not have access to the rest of the house as well. None of this information was provided on the site. The owner was pleasant but made no attempt to provide us with a breakfast after being advised. I also fell out of the door when leaving the room and grazed my arm as the board I stood on moved causing me to loose my balance.

Gardener's Retreat- No wonder!
We were very disappointed by this room. We knew it was unhosted but turned up past the check in time only to find the cleaner still there. Then the sitting area where the tiny TV was had two old cane chairs ( not comfy) this area could not be called a room it was so small. about the size of an entryway in a modern brick house. The main bedroom was OK except for the electric heater thermostat rattling all night. This room is tucked away at the back of an old house in an area that would most likely have been an old laundry and looks out only onto a wall of an old tin garage on one side and very overgrown vegetation in what once no doubt was a garden before the gardener retreated. To the owners. This could be much better if the spare bedroom ( soldier's retreat?) was converted into a lounge with a decent TV and you spent some time and money there actually establishing a garden.

This was a lovely old B&B. We booked in for this weekend to see the Picnic at Ross on the Sunday (Vintage cars from across Tasmania). We were very surprised that so the majority of the local shops (of which there aren't many) in most midland towns either weren't open or closed at 4pm-5pm, so be prepared to have a very early dinner in most of these small midland areas of Tasmania in winter. The host was very friendly but does not live on site. Our room was comfortable and had sufficient facilities for our needs, except for the chairs for the very small television/lounge area in our own room. The rooms were heated by wall heaters and thankfully bed had a good electric blanket. Free wifi was provided which was appreciated. On reflection of the facilities in the area, the charge for the two nights was exorbitant. I guess we were paying extra for the Picnic at Ross weekend, but now see the overnight charge is a more reasonable rate.
