The village is characterised by its rural setting, surrounded by fields and quiet country roads, making it a peaceful escape.

Couples looking for a relaxing retreat will find Riethgen ideal. The village offers a genuine taste of rural German life, with opportunities for gentle walks or cycling along the unpaved roads and pathways that crisscross the surrounding countryside. It's a superb base for unwinding and enjoying the slow pace of village living.

For families, staying in Riethgen provides a wonderful opportunity for children to experience the outdoors. There's ample space for them to play and explore in a calm setting.

The best time to go to Riethgen is during the warmer months, from late spring to early autumn, specifically May through September.

During this period, the weather is generally pleasant, with milder temperatures and more sunshine, making it ideal for exploring the surrounding Thuringian countryside and enjoying outdoor activities. This is particularly good for couples who enjoy walking or cycling through the scenic landscapes.

Families will also find these months suitable, as the good weather allows for comfortable visits to local attractions and outdoor spaces without the chill of winter.
