About this property
Epic 5000 Sq Ft Stagecoach Lodge
Experience the spectacular Stagecoach Lodge! The lodge is an amazing log home located on 35 acres. It is a wonderful retreat for those who enjoy nature, wildlife, and mountain peak views. The lodge centerpiece is the 2-sided, 2-story, free standing stone fireplace surrounded by railings on the second floor featuring a majestic, 16 point, elk shoulder mount. The great room features floor to ceiling vaulted windows framing the Cimarron mountain range with log beams, and multi-level windows highlighting the entire San Juan range. The home features radiant floor heat and abundant natural light throughout. Air conditioning installed on the main floor including the main floor master suite keeps the home cool during the summer months.
The property fee is fully refundable if the lodge is not left excessively dirty and all towels are cleaned and in the dryer at check out.
On the main floor is the living area, dining area for 10, two gas remote fireplaces, 1/2 bathroom, laundry room, kitchen and master suite. The master suite with French door patio access, contains a new king bed mattress, HDTV, walk-in closet and spacious 5 piece bath. The open concept fully-equipped kitchen boasts a Viking gas range top, Bosch dishwasher, Bosch double oven, French door refrigerator and granite counters.
The outside patio has a six-person hot tub, gas grill for cooking, and a large, sturdy picnic table for twelve-person dining.
The upper level boasts two lounge areas: east facing with an HDTV, leather recliners and a game table, and the south facing with comfy reading niche and doors that open to a private balcony. The second floor master suite is complete with a new mattress, HDTV, dual sinks, granite counter top and a large steam shower. Two additional bedrooms are located upstairs; both with queen beds, one with an additional twin bed, both with walk in closets, and a Jack and Jill bath.
A two-car attached garage is included, with outside parking for additional vehicles. A great feature of the property is the 450 yards of paved driveway from Country Road 1 to the garage. The terrain of the property lends itself to great hiking or snowshoeing in the winter.
The lodge is about 10 minutes from downtown Ridgway, 20 minutes from downtown Ouray and 40 minutes from Telluride.
WIFI, internet, 4 HDTV’s are included in the rental. We supply bath amenities, detergent for the dishwasher and laundry, paper goods, basic spices, and everything you'd need in cooking appliances.
ONLINE BOOKINGS: Please note the following. Your credit card will be charged when you make your reservation. You will receive your e-mail confirmation shortly after your booking is completed.
This property is managed by the owner and local caretakers.
About the area: The town of Ouray is known as the "Switzerland of America," and is nestled in a small valley with 360-degree views of 12,000-14,000 mountains. Ridgway, nicknamed the "Gateway to the San Juan’s," is well-known as the place where the John Wayne movie "True Grit" was filmed. Many of the movie set's buildings are still used today by local businesses. These two historic towns offer a variety of activities: restaurants, shops, museums, galleries, hot springs pools, hiking, fishing and boating. The reservoir is right in Ridgway and offers water fun under mountain peaks. Day trips to Silverton, Telluride and Durango are fun as well.
Ouray is also often called "The Jeeping Capital of the World" because of its many trails through the high country (rated easy to rugged). We recommend renting a jeep or off-road vehicle from either Ouray or Silverton and spending the day(s) exploring.
Golf is available at beautiful Divide Ranch Golf Club located on Log Hill Mesa, a short drive from the property. Telluride and Montrose also have golf courses.
Ouray and Ridgway both offer local markets, and you can find larger stores like City Market, Safeway, Target and Walmart in Montrose, about a 20 minute drive from the lodge.

We get out to The San Juans a couple times a year, and always stay in Ridgway. This was the most spectacular rental we've had yet. Gorgeous views, and the house is wonderful. The kitchen is very well stocked for doing cookouts. Highly reccomend!
The stay was more than amazing. It’s strategically situated so the views can be enjoyed from all angles. The hot tub was amazing and the play room really has everything you need to enjoy your time there. Rooms were amazing and very spacious. Kitchen had everything needed for a nice meal with an incredible view right in front of it. We really had a great time staying in Stagelodge coach and will definitely recommend it to anyone looking to stay in the area.
Stagecoach Lodge offered the most incredible place for us to host friends and family for our wedding ceremony and reception. The location, the views, the amenities, everything completely exceeded our expectations. I can’t say enough good things about this property!
We will definitely be back soon!

This was our second stay in 3 years at Stagecoach lodge. Nikki our host was very responsive to any questions and needs that we had. When we stayed 3 years ago I rated the propert 5 out of 5. The reasons for my 3 of 5 this time is some reinvestment is needed. The majority of the patio chairs were ripped or damaged, the prior large dinning room table was replaced with a small round bar table so there was not enough room to have dinner together. The prior green lawn was burnt out which our kids previously loved playing on. Still a beautiful property and amqzing views.
There is no better house situated in between two stunning mountain ranges compared to this house. We were able to travel easily to the areas around us. Lots of space, comfortable beds, great appliances and good communication with the host. with
This property was absolutely breathtaking. It was the perfect space for our intimate wedding (less than 50 guests). In addition to the amazing views and fun amenities, the lodge provided enough space for my entire party to move inside for the reception when the weather didn’t cooperate. The Stagecoach Lodge was everything we ever dreamed of. Amazing.
Our group has been coming to the San Juan’s for 20+ years and decided to step up our game. Absolutely beautiful home with views to die for. Fully furnished and appointed. Our group likes to cook and the kitchen has everything you could need. We definitely plan to rebook for next summer and possibly for a fall and/or winter trip.
Our stay was during mid summer in a heat wave, so this affected the family members on the 2nd floor. Air Conditioning is only on the ground floor, and we were aware of this, but we did not expect the heat wave. The location is wonderful, the home is beautiful, and we will truly miss the incredible views! Would love to visit again in cooler temperatures. Communication was very good with property owner and local property manager. Hope to visit again sometime!
The house and surroundings are probably worth any of the minor hassles. The house is up-to-date and in very good condition. The view of the Rockies is spectacular. The day before I arrival, I was supposed to sign a form with my credit card information and either scan it or print it and send a picture. I was already traveling in CO, staying in an "off-the-grid" home, so this request was not feasible. I ended up giving my card information to the owner over the phone. The only other bother were all of the signs around the house giving warnings of fines and all of the cameras. It was not a warm welcome feeling. It is a beautiful home, so I can understand wanting to keep everything pristine. I live in a very nice home, so I feel like I would be careful in this lovely home on my own accord. Maybe the owners had some unruly tenants in the past. Anyway, like I said, the beauty of the area is worth the stay.
Overall this is a great property and we had an awesome time staying there. There were a few minor issues:
1. The A/C froze up several times and was not able to keep the house cool during the day. Windows had to be open and closed often in a complicated routine to cool things down. The local manager was very helpful with this, but remained an issue.
2. There are instruction signs with lots of rules all over the house. Very strict owner. That is OK, but if that is the case, things should be perfect. Minor cleaning issues and items not working. Not terrible, but extra annoying considering all the rules we were to abide by.
3. The piano shown in the listing is not to be touched. Minor issue, but shouldn't be on listing
4. There was an awesome pinball machine upstairs (not in listing), but required quarters to play. That is a bit cheap IMO, when paying several thousand dollars for a stay.
As I said, overall a great house and stay, just a few annoyances to be aware of, especially if there in the heat season.
I had my wedding here August of 2023. It was beautiful and the view was breathtaking. I rented the home for the weekend and paid an additional fee to have a small wedding. My spouse and I are from Texas and always dreamed of getting married in Colorado. Thankfully the listing had plenty of pictures for me to “virtually” plan out the wedding without ever visiting the location. Everything was perfect. However- each door has an electric keypad and the batteries went out during our stay. The property manager was out of town and could not come to replace/open the doors. We had to climb on the roof to get into the rooms because our rings, wedding attire, etc were locked in the rooms. It was a very hectic morning trying to open the doors. The property manager did apologize for the inconvenience, but I highly suggest this is looked into. I understand the practicality of the electric keypads, but in this case- it nearly ruined the wedding. I absolutely loved this home and all the special memories we now share with it. I definitely plan to reserve this home in the future and would recommend it to anyone. Great for big families and has plenty of seating area. I would give this property and experience a 9/10. It would’ve been 10/10 if we didn’t have a melt down over the door situation. Thank you for a lovely stay.

Amazing Property - Failed Communication
I stayed at this property 4 years ago and the property and lodge are still as amazing as what I remember. Highly recommend it, very clean, amazing views. I hate airing problems on a review, but VRBO and the owner did a poor job caring about our troubles during check in. 4 days prior I sent the owners a message about looking forward to the trip and is anything else needed to ensure a quick check in. Sent a PDF through the app that could not be opened via the app. Asked to resend or clarify, no response leading up to 4 PM check in time. 4 PM check in time came and went, was on the phone with VRBO 4 different times to find a solution, but the calls kept dropping as our party sat at the gate in our vehicles. VRBO didn't know anything and the owners were unreachable. We snooped around the gate and found an unlocked padlock, tried the code on the front door and got in. VRBO was scrambling trying to find somewhere else for us to stay. We finally figured it out on our own after what felt like an escape room experience. Details were finally sent the next day with a promised phone call from the owners that never came. This is my 7th or 8th VRBO experience and by for the most stressful after attempting to be very proactive to ensure a smooth arrival for my party. Dishwasher is terrible. I wish VRBO or the owner cared more about our terrible night 1 experience and $7k spend. Great trip, but could not have started out any worse. However, I would rent the house again. A++

The views are beautiful and overall the grounds are amazing. We had some problems that overshadowed what could have been the most amazing place to stay. We checked in on a Tuesday and the hot tub was green and smelly. The service attendant was not scheduled until Friday. Accomodations were made to empty and refill the tub early but no chemicals were provided to treat the water in order to make it safe. There was no hot water in half of the house which meant no showers and no laundry for two days. The upstairs master shower had hair on the walls when we arrived. Some dishes were very dirty. Random socks were outside in the grass and also in the garage. Many of the lights lining the driveway were broken and shattered, looking like litter. The decorative wagons at the end of the drive were full of litter. The garbage bins were to be picked up during the week per the instructions left for renters. These bins were not picked up and were overflowing when we left. Many of the outdoor chairs were dry rotted and unable to be used. The owners responded as they could but the property manager did not respond at all to a text. It was not clear who was to be handling issues. The water features were overgrown and dirty. This was somewhat understandable considering the time of year and the maintenance needed to operate the features, overall just an eyesore to the property in the unkept condition. The listing stated 4 bathrooms but is actually 3.5.
