"Staff were all amazing. From Kaitlyn in the restaurant, who was just soo lovely, to all of reception staff & all of the bar staff.
My husband, who isn’t a DD fan , would go back in a heartbeat.
The setting, the facilities (too bad the pool wasn’t open as it was so warm in October, but I knew that. The quiz, the information boards , the free laundry facilities….
We took a hike up to Bald Knob (25/30 mins) worth the wonder up.
The food was excellent and in the evening and it was quiet we were able to choose from the less expensive lunch menu. All delicious.
Our room was wonderful. We were in a Richmond cabin with a porch and rockers outside. Loved it.
Even the guy in the gift shop at the entrance had a lovely interesting chat with us and how his family owned the cars from the movie.
I would recommend taking Dow creek rd not the 700 which is definitely more narrow and less crash barriers. Take it slow and if it’s wet don’t hurry especially with wet leaves. Preferably get there before dark, you want to see this place in daylight anyway!
