"DO NOT BE DECEIVED BY THE PRETTY PHOTOS OF THE FRONT OF THE PROPERTY Worst stay we’ve ever had. We checked in and went straight out, after getting back at 1am the hotel was locked and nobody was around to let us in, we searched and shouted for 10 minutes by going round the back of the hotel (I cut my leg on a thorn bush trying to find a way in) and then finally somebody appeared just as we were about to decide we would sleep out in the car park. "I'll start with the bad things: . Now that we are done with that, everything else was brilliant. Breakfast is rich, the Brasserie has a lot of options, most of them are good, some of them are small and a bit pricy. The atmosphere is of true nobility and the staff definitely play their role in it. The halls and the exterior are well maintained and you feel as if you are in the 18th century. Would recommend and most likely will come back"

"Parking was easy, lots of space despite the hotel being full. The room was clean. The hotel itself is pretty tired and in need of an update. There was plaster missing on the walls, the light switches did their own merry dance and there were only three sockets in the room (one has the tv in and one has the kettle) I had to unplug one to have a fan on whilst I charged my phone. All that said, these things were MORE than made up for by the absolute delight that was the staff! Every staff member I spoke with was absolutely lovely, they couldn't do enough for me and were chirpy and happy despite some really unreasonable and rude guests. I didn't see any hotel staff specifically - I think I was checked in by the restaurant manager, he was wonderful. super friendly and up for a laugh. the bar staff and restaurant staff were also wonderful, couldn't fault them at all. Overall the stay was enjoyable due to excellent staff and the bed was comfortable and clean. The shower was decent. "

"As always, Val is a wonderful host. The cottage is well maintained and very clean. We cook most of our breakfasts and many of our dinners in the cottage and find everything we need. We have friends in the area and love to host a get-together for the four of us. The cottage works very well for this. With the pub a short walk away, larger groups for dinner are covered. If we want a change, the village is generally very quiet and the walks are peaceful and beautiful.Thank you Val for being a large part of our very enjoyable vacation."

"Great room away from the pub itself. The accommodation was clean, and quiet in the evening. The pub shuts no later than 10. Lovely views of the canal. There are a couple of pubs within walking distance along the tow path, including a micro brewery. The White Hart sells amazing Indian food! We shared a pizza for lunch in the Narrowboat which was lovely. Staff helpful and friendly. Very dog friendly! Ubers are available if you want a trip out. They seem to be a bit more reasonable than the London area! Would stay again 😊"

"Character room, good size with everything you would need. There were a few things that needed refreshing but it was all fine for a short stay. The breakfast was really good, hot and well presented with good coffee/tea. Good value for money and good location for many places to visit."
