About this property
Spacious apartment on homestead; Experience sustainable living
The apartment is a self contained private unit with its own entrance. It is within our house, but all spaces, including the entrance, are private to the renter. Cold Creek Homestead is nestled on the border of Northumberland and Hastings counties near the rural village of Wooler. We raise chickens for eggs and honey bees. We have a large market garden and several fruit trees. We have a wide range of homemade items such as jams, jellies, baba ganoush, pesto, honey, etc., depending on the season. We're always trying something new. The 35 acre property backs on to Cold Creek which can be accessed by a 1.5 km walking trail. We own a local bird feeding/watching and nature store in Belleville and have set up a bird feeding station for you to enjoy directly outside the apartment window. Within 30 minutes are several lovely Ontario towns including Brighton, Warkworth, Cobourg, Campbellford, Frankford, and Trenton. The Waterfront Trail and Prince Edward County are at your doorstep. Plenty of provincial parks and conservation areas offer excellent beaches, hiking, swimming, cycling and birdwatching. There are dozens of craft breweries and wineries, farmer's markets and one of Ontario's best waterfront patios, all nearby. Many of the local farms are open to the public for apple and berry picking, and several offer an opportunity to meet their animals. Come experience our sustainable, country lifestyle! A ton of great things to do in the area: - Provincial parks: Presqu'ile, Sandbanks & Ferris - Historic Sites: Glanmore National Historic Site, Ameliasburgh Heritage Village, Proctor House & the Trent-Severn Waterway - Antiquing with many shops within a 15 minute drive - Several excellent golf courses in the area (e.g. Timber Ridge, Black Bear Ridge) - Animal experiences: Old Mill Alpacas, Haute Goat & Promised Land Animal Sanctuary - Museums: National Air Force Museum of Canada & Quinte Museum of Natural History - Farms and markets: Codrington, Belleville and Trenton Farmers' Markets, Bumbleberry Farm & Brighton's apple orchards - Hiking and Cycling: Waterfront & Lower Trent Trails - Culinary experiences: wineries, craft breweries and excellent restaurants in the local area and Prince Edward County

Great property and location, Laura and family were very helpful and generous with both the stay and providing us anything extra we needed. Very friendly throughout the stay and our daughter loved collecting eggs from their chicken coop and playing with their pets.We would definitely stay here again.
We loved staying at this lovely well appointed apartment. The location was perfect to tour around the area to Warkworth, Stirling and Brighton. The trail on the property was nice and we enjoyed watching the chickens and many birds at the feeders. A very relaxing stay!
This unit was perfect for us…peaceful and in the country but close enough to Trenton (by vehicle of course). It is very spacious and clean. We’d definitely stay again.
We loved our stay. Very clean and close to where we need to be. The daughter (sorry don’t know your name) was very nice and brought my daughter to see the chickens. Which she LOVED. Thank you.
Absolutely wonderful experience! The hosts are exceptional folks, and the surrounding area is rural and beautiful. I definitely recommend this getaway, and would stay again.
You will enjoy the chickens and garden right outside your door and a beautiful walking path full of wildflowers (in season.) I was traveling for work, but this was such a refreshing place to rest.
I was very happy staying here, the apartment was nicely renovated with a comfortable bed. The door faces a wide open field and there is some wildlife on the property that adds to the atmosphere. The hosts are friendly and helpful.
The rental was just perfect for what we needed. Beautiful surroundings, Laura was an awesome host and it was quiet and tranquil and a really nice place to stay. Loved seeing the chickens and all of the birds coming to the feeders. 10/10 for sure!!
The apartment is located in a small village and is ideal for nature lovers and bird watchers. It has direct access to a 1.5-kilometer trail. Everything was very clean and well maintained. Laura and Dan are very good hosts.
Thanks again for the honey just extracted!
Laura was incredibly kind, communicative and accommodating! My partner, our dog and I had a lovely peaceful getaway from the city. The location is quiet and the apartment is perfect for a couple. The products from their homestead are delicious, so be sure to ask what's in season.
I would highly recommend this property and host to anyone.
We really enjoyed our stay at Laura & Dan's place. It was quiet and relaxing and everything was spotless. We walked along the trail on their lovely property and took in the fresh fall air. Laura communicates promptly and I appreciated our little chat. Thank you!
Cute open concept, comfortable bed, great hiking trail, great water pressure, private entrance. We did find the room quite cold, however there was a space heater which warmed up the room quite well. Wifi/internet did fade out both nights we were there, however we weren’t necessarily there to watch TV. Family does live above, so you do hear them walking around , otherwise it was great.
Not what I was expecting. It is basically a room in someone’s basement. I could hear them walking above me and the water running from the pipes. Although the property was cute, the room was very clean and hearing the rooster in the morning was lovely.
We really enjoyed staying at the farm. Everything was perfect. My kids enjoyed the chickens, picking eggs, and playing with Kiwi the dog.The location was perfect for everything we wanted to do.
Check in was easy and seamless, the unit was impeccably clean. Laura was an absolute delight to communicate with and even let me know where the soap that I fell in love with was from, honestly it was such a peaceful stay with my fiance.
The space was clean, comfortable and perfect for what we needed. The location was beautiful, especially having access to the backlot trail after driving all day! Laura was a great host and easy to contact when we needed to. Overall great experience!
Bright, spotless room with a walk-out basement onto a lovely yard with cute chickens close by (in a pen). Very friendly host and cute puppy may greet you as you wander the 34 acres of beautiful treed property, including a 1.5 km path through the trees and fields. Minutes from the 401, this location is ideal for your stop over on the way to the Thousand Islands.
We spent teo nights here as we were in tge area ti visit family. Its a lovely property and a nicely appointed apartment. Hosts were friendly and accomodating. We were able to buy their farm fresh eggs to share with family.
