Beautiful beach, pools and grounds. Good location and close to the airport. Hotel is beautiful and there is lots of chairs in shade on the beach . The food is just ok and room was ok a little dated. The staff was excellent and helped us with anything we needed. We had an outstanding butler and housekeeper was very good.
I loved the resort , my first time visiting this beautiful country and i couldn’t be more pleased with my staff ! Baroni R, was so helpful always making sure we were ok and helpful with all of our request ! Our room was well stocked , the drinks were amazing and the entertainment was magnificent ! I highly recommend !
I love this place. Very clean, lots of activities but the best was to have a butler Mr. Baroni. A kind, caring and very helpful person. He was one of the best during our staying in that resort. I am very pleased and would recommend this place. Definitely will visit again. Thanks much
i loved the stay there my mayordomo dionisio did everything i ask amazingly he help decorate my room and get me flowers for my wife and i honeymoon he took care of us every step of the way. give that man a raise please he was one of the very few reasons we actually enjoyed our stay.
The rooms were ok, had to visit guest services on a few occasions due to the tub not draining properly and the toilet not flushing. Staff was amazing and responded in a timely manner.

Staff was very respectful and helpful. Restrooms pool area restaurants and landscaping was very well maintained and clean. Facility and rooms were very outdated you could tell it’s an old building.
The service staff is top notch they gave us everything we needed with the best attitude. They stood out with how help they were constantly. Also the ocean views from our room were unreal, it is worth the upgrade.
We had an absolutely amazing stay. The food was delicious, the service was excellent, and the entire experience was unforgettable.
A special shoutout to our butler, Dionisio, who was truly the best. He went above and beyond to make our stay extra special. He beautifully decorated all three of our rooms with birthday decorations and arranged three of our dinner reservations.
His attention to detail, kindness, and exceptional service made our celebration even more memorable. We are so grateful for everything he did for us!
Thank you for an amazing stay—we will definitely be back
Great food, hospitality and crowd. Rooms are a little outdated . Didn’t pay a hold deposit for hotel. Lots of activity to do on property. Vacation wear shopping, pharmacy, clinic, basic mani pedi, spa, volleyball tennis, chest and more games, casino, clubbing, concert hall, wedding dress etc shopping. I know of 4 different restaurants 5 bars. They can help with taxi, delivery and excursions. I had a butler too, so great! Wait time to check in was 2 hours after 3 pm. The place is packed. I know of 2 huge pools, one with all the kids stuff attached. Staff is great as well. Gym & Parking available.

The bathrooms in our room were horrible. The rooms need to be redone. The ceiling was leaking and when they changed our room it was just the same thing happening. The food was great and the pool as well.
The biggest positive was the beach; ideal location, stunning views, and very clean. Additionally, the entertainment staff were very lively and fun! On the downside, the food was average at best :)
Front desk ladies have an attitude, don’t help much and barely explain all the details about the hotel. The hotel is nice but needs maintenance. The breakfast buffet is terrible but lunch and dinners are good. They supposedly assigned us a lady that we needed to contact to make reservations for their à la carte restaurants, she was the worst, pointless and unhelpful. However all the people at the buffet were nice also at the bar.
in general we had a good vacation however the tourist guides at the beach were so disturbing and annoying. There were no one to control them and they were always wandering around the sunbeds and disturbing people especially with animals they carry. People especially children may be afraid of these kinds of animals. while swimming in the sea to see always unauthorized people wandering around my belongings made me so nervous and uncomfortable during my stay.
I was disappointed with my stay at Occidental Caribe. The views and the ocean breeze were beautiful, and I also enjoyed the pool area, but some days the pool did not look clean.
The rooms are very old and need renovation. The bathroom also did not have a toilet brush, which was inconvenient.
Unfortunately, I was not satisfied with the food. The Mexican restaurant was very disappointing, and the Italian restaurant was not good either. There was also very little customer greeting or friendly service.
Communication was another problem because most of the workers spoke only Spanish, so it was difficult to ask questions or get help.
The best parts of the resort were the views and the breeze, but overall, the rooms, food, cleanliness, and customer service need major improvement.

First time to the country had a horrible experience. Room that was given to my family and I had a puddle in the bathroom was switched to another room and and that one also had water leaking from the ceiling at that point my family and I decided to keep the room instead of keep picking up all of our stuff and keep moving. The cleaning lady was good when I asked her for an extra towel she came through and brought one. Some staff members only said hi if you acknowledge them first otherwise they kept quiet and didn’t greet. The bars were all good no complaints there. My balcony view for first room was great but unfortunately when we were moved we received no view just trees and in between you can see another resort. The food was ok I tried sticking to fresh meals made on the spot as the buffet area seems to have chilled food at times. If you are a family with kids their play room was amazing and Mirtha watches over them as if they were her own but you child must be 4 yrs and over. Lulu was everywhere beautiful soul and caring, she always showed love to my family. She made my kids have amazing experiences.
Overall, we had a good time at Occidental Caribe, but there are important areas for improvement. Our arrival was frustrating: the first room had a terrible plumbing/sewage smell, and we visited around six rooms before finding one without issues. We lost almost two hours in the process. Eventually, we received an upgrade and a much better room, although the A/C struggled at night.
The biggest issue is the food. The buffet lacks variety and freshness; many items were dry or cold. Breakfast was the most acceptable, especially thanks to Santa, who was always attentive, smiling, and courteous.
Of the restaurants, the Dominican had the worst service due to lack of attention. The French was very good, and Tokyo was by far the best in both food and service—we went twice. At the Italian, service lacked connection, and I witnessed an employee drop silverware on the floor and put it back on the table.
The pools and activities were great. Chocolate and Miguelina made our time at Pool #2 very enjoyable. The spa staff was also excellent. Housekeeping missed our room completely one day.
Having hospitality experience, the biggest opportunity I see is consistency in service standards. Some employees are warm, friendly, and engaging; others barely acknowledge guests. Stronger training, along with improvements in food quality and room maintenance, could significantly elevate this resort.

The pool and beach were nice. Rooms were dated and finishes weren’t nice. Didn’t feel very clean coming in. AC wasn’t working in our room, couldn’t go lower than 78 degrees. Even in the indoor restaurants the AC wasn’t running. Food was ok, nothing crazy. The main buffet is primarily Dominican style food. Was difficult to get bartenders attention if you don’t speak Spanish. Small bars and it seemed like they couldn’t make a lot of different drinks. Definitely one of the cheapest hotels in the area. Only really nice thing was the landscaping in the area with the palm trees, flowers, bushes and grass. Gift shop is priced higher than it should be, obviously. All the amenities feel like they’re in the basement (gym, game room, spa, etc.) and even the casino - which had the typical casino feel with the colored carpet, lights, and mirrors but smells like a basement plus cigarettes.
I’ll start off by giving a big shout out to to the entertainers like Sebastian and the others the did great with what they had ! Overall experience was terrible . I stayed here back in 2019 and remember it being so much better with food, diversity , atmosphere. And more . This time was the worse I’ve been . First the rooms was very basic with is fine but then literally no one speaks English ! No staff ! No bar tender! Nobody at the pool ! Nobody at the little events ! Back in 2019 is was more half and half then time all Spanish speaking so frustrating because they don’t even understand the context clues of you trying to explain what you’re saying ! Most of them looked like they just didn’t wanna be there each day . Food was all terrible ! They a put lunch out at 12 but half time it’s already cold ! Buffet had almost no beef or chicken mostly pork and fish and pasta ! Everyday selection! I’ve been to over 8 resorts I don’t complain at all but I had to say something about this one ! The nightclub was always smelling like sewage water and my bf said the men’s bathroom was flooded with almost a foot ! The woman’s bathroom was dirty and had large poop turds the made me really upset ! The casino was advertised to have over 40 slots they have 8 slot machines and 2 tables of blackjack nothing else in the whole casino but chairs and when you walk down there the ladies just starring into yo soul . Overall think it’s not really worth your money book elsewhere
