El Pizote Lodge

2.5 star property
7.2 out of 10, Good, (121)
"Overall, our stay here was excellent. We loved the little cabins with kitchenettes. It is very peaceful and beautiful as you’re a bit removed from the town of Puerto Viejo and the included breakfast is very good. The pool is nice but some of the grounds and facilities are a bit run down. This didn’t really bother us however and we were very pleased with our stay. Wifi only in the lobby, not in the cabins. Pool table and ping pong available to guests. It would have been nice if there were...

Seaview at Playa Chiquita Wildlife Lodge above Canopy

9.4 out of 10, Exceptional, (74)
"Though the house was described accurately as typical Caribbean style, we were not expecting the total openness with only screens in windows. However, we are so glad we stayed there and would do it again. So much wildlife to observe from the upper open “treehouse” deck. No issues with bugs in the home, great laundry and pool area. Great hiking right out the door. Host was an excellent communicator and property was well equipped and maintained. We will remember this stay for a lifetime. It is 100%...

Cariblue Beach and Jungle Resort

3.0 star property
8.4 out of 10, Very good, (461)
"I stayed at Cariblue with my
family
for over a week and we all loved it. Enjoyed that it’s a little outside the main action of Puerto… there’s some stuff to do within walking distance but you’ll need a taxi or bike to do other things. Stayed in a
family
suite which has direct access to one of the pools and is basically across the street from the beach. The suite was perfect for us and we didn’t mind getting a bit of noise from the neighbouring restaurants. The outside noise seemed to wrap up...

VIP Hotel Playa Negra

Ocean view luxury property with pool in the jungle at 10 min walk to the beach.

9.8 out of 10, Exceptional, (63)
"My
family
and I loved the location of the property. We enjoyed the privacy of the villas and the beautiful pool area. We saw monkeys early in the morning and late afternoon while the
kids
swam in the pool. My son spotted a poison dart frog off the patio. There was some excitement for all ages of my
family
. The beach was much closer than expected and there were several sodas nearby so we didn’t get back in our car until our departure. The caretakers were very friendly and helpful. Highly...

Casa Merlin Lodge

3.0 star property
8.6 out of 10, Excellent, (7)
"The place is ok, a little over rated in my opinion. One has to get out of the car to open gate to get into a small parking space. They woke me up early on Sunday morning to move my car, cause I was the last one in the parking space last night and someone wanted to leave, so I had to get up to move my car. They were very rude about it. So parking is an issue, as it was raining hard and had to get out to open and close gate also."

Tierra de Sueños Lodge & Wellness Center

3.0 star property
9.2 out of 10, Wonderful, (43)
"The property was cute but the room was not -- it had some kind of debris falling from the ceiling and onto the the bed, which was worrisome. Not sure if it was dust, wood, or pest waste. No air conditioning and there's wi-fi in the restaurant area, which is hundreds of feet away from the rooms. Dinner not always available (there was a private event that precluded other guests from having dinner) but did have a good breakfast."
