We kindly request no loud music after 11pm.

*Swimming in the pond is NOT allowed. Ice skating in the winter, on the pond, is permitted based upon the hosts assessment and authorization.



Access to the whole house will be available.



The only areas that will be locked off will be the host`s attached apartment, the pump room, and the garage.



It is politely requested that you don`t park in front of the garage doors - you are welcome to park anywhere else on the property.



A host lives in an apartment attached to the house and will be available should you have any questions or need help with anything during your stay. They are far enough away that you will not hear or see us, and you have the entire house and property to use and treat as your own. They completely respect guest privacy and will not enter the main house during the duration of your stay.



The Carbon Museum (also known as the `Farmers Exchange`) features a diverse array of Carbon and local artifacts. Featuring the ā€œMurder Mysteryā€, which is a visual interpretation of the John Coward case, an unsolved murder in Carbon during the height of the coal mining era. A heritage garden and a gift shop are also located in this historic building.



Carbonā€™s geographical situation is a prime spot for many tourists. From rolling hills to deep valleys and open fields, the area is very scenic and popular with photographers. Tourist attractions in the area include Dry Island Buffalo Jump, Horseshoe Canyon, Orkney Lookout Point, Bleriot Ferry area, Keiverā€™s Campground and Torrington Gopher Hole Museum. Kneehill County is part of the Canadian Badlands tourism group. The county borders the Tyrrell Museum in Drumheller and Rosebud Theatre in Wheatland County.



The towns and villages in the area provide many recreational opportunities including indoor and outdoor swimming pools, indoor and outdoor skating rinks, walking and biking trails, ball diamonds, curling rinks, and many parks and playgrounds. Golf courses in the area include Rosebud, Drumheller, Trochu, Three Hills and Acme.



If you`re looking for a bit of history, in 35 minutes you can be in Drumheller which boasts a wealth of museums and historic sites where you can relive history. As the Dinosaur Capital of the World, Drumheller likes to live up to its reputation with a rich abundance of dinosaur fossils and is home to the world-renowned Royal Tyrrell Museum of Palaeontology.



The town of Carbon is only a short walk from the property, with the general store being only a 10 minute walk away. Nearby local restaurants are also within a short walking distance.



Fast food chains such as Subway, Dairy Queen, A&W, Boston Pizza, Pizza Hut, and many more are a short 25 minute drive away in Drumheller. Here you will also find a Walmart, Co-op Home & Agro, Canadian Tire, and grocery stores such as Freson Brother`s, Extra Foods, Sobey`s, and No Frills.



Within easy driving distance of Banff, Calgary, and Red Deer; this area offers a world of startling contrasts as rolling fields suddenly give way to steep, dry coulees ridged with the strata of hundreds of years of erosion by time, wind and water.



We kindly request $79 per guest for any guest over the number of 16. This fee applies over the number of 16 guests. For large events, contact us for special pricing.

Entertainment. Spa was a big hit.

Property was lovely. House was very big with enough rooms. Upstairs our voices echoed without any sound proofing. Lower level a bit weird with the open ceiling. Voices really carried between rooms. I personally did not enjoy my final night there with the rodents in the wall with their clawing and chewing ALL NIGHT long. Had to find a friend to let me bunk up with at 3:00. Thought for sure the rodents would be coming through the drywall.

Excellent property to have a family gathering and hangout. 3 families with 13 people and 2 dogs. Lots to do - relax, movies, spa , games. Beautiful area. Communication with hosts was excellent.

Bachelor party - Success

This property was kept in perfect condition. Amenities were exactly as described. We could not have hoped for a better time at the Ranch. Staff were also incredibly helpful with locating a lost wallet after departure; they even sent it priority mail to the guest. Thanks CVB, its been a pleasure.

Family time together

As a family we were very happy with all the different aspects of the home which met many different interests within our family. We were also comfortable with the fact that the hosts were on site yet not visible to us. They were also very quick to respond to any questions or concerns that we had. Property manger sent frivolous invoice 2 weeks after stay.

The property managers sent an invoice without discussing prior and have not explained what the invoice was for. On VRBO, hosts can invoice guests and the card gets charged automatically, with merit or not.

Modern mansion was a dream come true

Three generations, including three married couples so all our 3 granddaughters had their own room. We were there over Christmas and it was nice to have the tree and other decorations done by our hosts. The dining room was large enough for the 9 of us (but would have seated 12). The 2 dishwashers and huge fridge with freezer were essential and there was another fridge in the basement. During our 5 night stay we used almost all the amenities - theatre room, pool table, arcade basketball, sauna and other spa features. We had one dog with us and there were many places outside of the property to walk her (and ourselves). For the price, I don't think there is another place in the province of Alberta that is this large and with this many exceptional features.

Getaway

Pictures show great however, Floors were swept but filthy dirty as they turned white socks black very quickly. Portable air conditioning unit for 9000sq ft does absolutely no good. Ad says AC Ad states playground, which there is no playground at this location. Many things in the house were broken -theatre seating, only 2 out of the 4 seats reclined, complete faucet on small sink in kitchen was not attached. Shelf downstairs and pool cue rack falling off the wall This property has seen a fair bit of abuse and very little to no maintenance.

Looks nice on surface, beware of bugs, no AC

The property looks nice on the surface, but beware that going in summer isn't a great idea if it's hot outside. There's no AC and we're told to open the windows for the breeze. The issue is that there are a swarm of bugs that will infest the house if you do so. One bedroom was completely unusable as they invaded the bed, walls, floors etc. There was also some plumbing issues that cause leakage in one of the other bedrooms. The spa room and theater are great but it's too bad that certain parts of the experience ruined the vacation for members of the family that were in the affected rooms.

Cool property in the prairie

This was a great experience for our family - the accommodations were enjoyed by everyone. We had some 14 people and there was plenty of space for everyone to hang out during the day and evening around the fire pit. Spectacular prairie scenery.

Perfect Wedding Venue

We booked CVR as the perfect place for our wedding and perfect it was! Between the space available for camping and all of the rooms in the house we were able to accommodate almost all of our guests overnight. The gorgeous landscape was the perfect backdrop for our outdoor wedding ceremony (so many stunning photos!) and the patio area was perfect for the dinner and dance. We are so happy we chose CVR and would highly, highly recommend it to anyone looking for an even centre or weekend get away! Jen & Bryan

Wonderful Weekend Getaway!

My friends and I booked this property for a weekend getaway, and it didn't disappoint! The house was beautiful inside and outside, and it looked just like it does in the pictures! We loved all of the activities that were available within the house such as the spa room, the theatre, the games, and the fire pit! It was such a special and quiet weekend and we definitely want to come back in the future!
