Hanalei Bay Resort overlooks Hanalei Bay from a tropical, lush 28 acres in Princeville. Beautiful ocean and Bali Hai views are everywhere on this property. Beach access is provided down a long, fair grade, paved path, and the resort staff offer convenient golf cart rides to the beach below.

This lovely studio unit will make a great location for your next vacation! Private, quite, mountain and garden views. Conveniently located close to the pool, tennis courts and hot tub, as well as the parking area. The county of Kauai does not permit this studio to have a kitchen. There is only a coffee maker, blender and electric tea kettle.

Beautiful resort stay

HBR 1557

The room was as listed and the stay was wonderful. We loved the resort and the amenities available as well as the location and proximity to different beaches, towns, and activities. The only downside to the stay was a number of bugs throughout the stay. While this is somewhat expected given the climate and it was not excessive, we were consistently finding 1-2 cockroaches a day. Other than that, this was a 5-star stay.

Amazing view of the mountains

Roaches :(

The good: check in was easy, the bellhop service was wonderful. Gorgeous view from the patio, great amenities, great location with beach access. Convenient location near shops and restaurants. The bad: On our first night we found two cockroaches in our bathroom. We contacted the property owner who told us they would contact their pest removal service. I am not sure if they did so during our stay. The next morning we found two more roaches. The worst part is that the owner did not even apologize. It’s a shame because the rest of the stay was great, but I would not stay in this home again.

Great Location - Unresponsive Host

Hanalei Bay Resort is wonderful and the staff are a delight. This condo is very small and does not have a kitchen, just a sink and a mini fridge. We spent days reserving the adjoining unit. Prior to checking in, the host was very responsive, but once the check in date arrived, the host took days to respond to messages. We eventually did add the adjoining room and appreciated the full kitchen and extra bathroom, although that bathroom does not have a bathtub, despite one being shown in the floor plan.

Excellent Spot!

My husband and I loved this location for our babymoon! The condo is updated, bed is extremely comfortable and the view is AMAZING from the balcony. The resort has all of the needed amenities - pool, beach access, towels, bar. I highly recommend this location and would definitely stay again! Thank you for the great hospitality!

Initially, we thought that you can cook in the accommodation. However, this was not possible. Therefore, we switched to the BBQ grills in the complex. Worked wonderfully.

Lovely mountain views

Condo 1557 is nicely situated close to all the amenities offered by he Hanalei Bay Resort. The bed was large and comfortable and the bathroom was modern and clean. The view from the balcony was lovely. The only improvement I could suggest for the room is the inclusion of a microwave oven and a hot water kettle. While there is a refrigerator in the unit, it did not have ice-making capabilities. Otherwise, the unit lived up to expectations.

Lacking in the normal studio at HBR

Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was somewhat dirty. I was very happy with the location. I was more than satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: I take it as my fault, I assumed it was like the last studio I have rented for a couple of years. Not available. This unit had NO: Stovetop, Oven, Dishwasher, Microwave, Freezer in small hotel size Refrigerator and Washer & Dryer. I managed, but was disappointed it lacked in so much.

Terrible Unit

The property is very very old and the unit has a remodel bathroom and that’s it. There is no microwave or cooktop and plugs are capped off in a kitchen sink area . There are dishes but no way to prepare food unless you use the old grills outside and no way to warm up food. There were termite bugs noise the unit around the bedding and pillows . Freaked us out!

Magical honeymoon Spot

We had the most incredible stay here. My husband and I could not be more pleased with our decision to stay here. Ideal location on the north shore. Just a quick drive to multiple beaches, quaint town of Hanalei, hiking on the Napali. Luxury of getting to make our breakfasts in the condo and eat on the balcony over looking a view that resembles Jarassic Park. The pool area, Happy Talk Lounge and beach (shared with St. Regis) were very convenient on days we weren't exploring. Must pour yourself a drink and go watch the sunset at the fire pit lounge chairs by the tennis courts. Plenty of delicious dining ( Makena Terrace, Bar Acuda, The Dophin) and fun eating/bar spots ( Tahiti Nui, wishing well, St. Regis bar). Fun ideas we enjoyed- driving up the coast to the end of the road, lighthouse, queens bath, farmers market, hiking to the waterfall on Napali trail, gardens by Tunnels beach, massages at Hanalei Day Spa, pool is great for lounging. Rent a car, worth every penny. Again, it was incredible and we can not wait to return to the resort!!

Get What You Pay For!

We had a great vacation, but...we were a bit disappointed with the property. The room as good, but it was a bit run down and dusty. There were chips in the wall paint, the art work was dated and warped, furniture has seen better days, and there was dust everywhere (under the bed, the lamps, base boards, etc.). But the view was great, room was quiet and the bed was super comfortable. Now onto the resort...it was very disappointing. They call it a resort, but there was very little there to offer the guests. Pool bar was indefinitely closed, the main restaurant was closed, and the only place to eat was the lounge but it's only open 5 days a week from 3-9pm. There was no place on the property to have coffee or eat breakfast and lunch. And, the lounge had issues two of the four nights we were there so the wait time was crazy long and they couldn't serve alcohol. It was nice that they had a beach to access from the property, which it took 15-20 minutes to walk to, but they don't offer any restrooms once you're there. We won't be going back to HBR.

An ok experience, clean.

This was our first time to Kauai and we stayed at this property the first night we arrived. It was very easy to find using google directions. After check in, we were provided a map of where to park and where this unit was located on the 22 acre campus. Parking was very limited in the lot closest to the unit. Then you have to trek with your bags down a back driveway, beyond the dumpsters and a busy employee maintenance worker entrance area complete with loading docks. Tip: leave anything in your car that is not worth carrying all the way through all of this and down, down to the unit. Once inside, the unit was very pleasantly clean, cool and welcoming. The bed was amazing. We slept like babies but had to get a move on in the morning. We checked in 7:00 pm and had to be out by 10:00 am the following morning. The early checkout makes things really rushed in the morning and kind of makes you feel like you barely got your moneys worth. I would have paid extra to check out a couple hours later. In the end, we rate this unit with 4 stars. 3.5 stars seemed not quite enough. We probably would have rated our experience 4.5 stars had it not required the commute through the not-so-satisfying employee entrance area. If we choose to stay at Hanalei Bay Resorts again, we will pay extra for a more centralized unit. Also, if you stay on a Wednesday and want a drink at the bar when you first arrive, byob! The bar/restaurant is closed on Wednesday evenings?? The pool area is open until 10:00 but is dimly lit. The hot tub was broken which was a real bummer also. Good, clean place to sleep and take a clean shower. If you pack light and don’t mind a bit of a hike to your room, this may be the place for you!!

Good for a short stay

Condo 1557 was quaint and in nice condition. Not to mention the view was amazing! We had a gorgeous view of the mountains. The lanai has a small table and two chairs - perfect for breakfast in the morning. The bed was a type of foam mattress. As a spoiled tempur-pedic mattress owner, I found this foam mattress not as comfortable. The kitchen area is nice with a induction cook top, toaster oven, microwave, mini fridge and sink. We only made breakfast (eggs and toast) as we were explored the north shore during our stay. Not that we watched a lot of TV, but we thought the location of the TV (above the sliding glass doors) was a bit off. You could not relax on the couch and watch TV at the same time. The bathroom was big! Plenty of room for two people to get ready for the day. The condo also included beach chairs, which we seriously enjoyed! It was a nice convenience. There were many other amenities and features in the condo that we did not use. The nearest ice machine is a nice walk 1/2 way across the resort. We only have two minor complaints. First, the air conditioning unit did not keep the room chilled. We would turn it on after dinner (around 6-7pm) and the room would not chill down until the morning - even using the ceiling fan. This made for a warm and sticky night. Unfortunately, there isn't an opportunity to have a cross breeze as the only two doors/windows is the front door and the sliding glass door...and we were not going to sleep with the front door open. Second, the bar/grill at the Hanalei Bay Resort is open for limited hours. We tried to book a reservation and they stated they were full. However, when we walked by several times, there was an abundance of open tables and seating. My guess is limited staff? The other restaurant on site appears to be closed indefinitely. We were not told of this until a week before our vacation! The Resort website stated it would reopen in 2017. When they say check-in is at 3pm, they mean it! Our room was ready an hour before, but we could not check-in early. So we hung out in the lobby as the Happy Talk bar & lounge wasn't open until 3pm. We stayed for two nights in February 2017. Given we like to try different places, if we return to Hanalei Bay area, we probably won't stay at this resort again.

Nice Stay

We really enjoyed our stay! Hanalei Bay is beautiful and the unit was well stocked. We enjoyed the tennis rackets, cooler, boogie boards and other amenities that we were provided. Enjoy your visit!

Reviewer Comments: Although the room was clean and for the most part you interact with the front desk, actually getting a hold of the host for this particular AirBnB is impossible. We reached out on several occasions and never got a response. In fact, after sending a message it would tell you the host’s typical response time is 11 hrs. Who doesn’t respond to their guests until half a day has gone by?Some of what happened was definitely our fault, when booking we accidentally shorted ourself a day and didn’t realize it until we got an auto text reminding us to checkout a day early. This is when we tried to contact Kristen but never heard back. If you are expecting to have your host be available to communicate should you have issues, I would not suggest this rental.

Overall if you’re looking for one of the best locations in Kauai on a budget, I would highly recommend. Positives: - This condo was significantly more affordable than other condos available for rent on Hanalei Bay Resort, it was worth it just to stay at the resort for a decent price-It was clean with a VERY comfortable bed & AC. -Two of the best beaches (Hanalei Bay & Hideaway) are within brisk walking distance- Loved waking up to the sound of the jungle from a large balcony each morning -The resort shares a beach with the luxurious 1 Hotel (brand new in the last year)- has a great beach/pool bar bar open to the public; also Welina Terrace bar & restaurant - great spot for sunset drinks/ dinner Negatives:-The closet in the bathroom smells like cat litter (???), made the whole bathroom stink. I am pregnant & sensitive to smells, had to keep the bathroom door closed at all times soas not to let the smell get into the room.- The kitchen was missing a few basic amenities like a sharp cutting knife. Had to use a butter knife all week to cut fruit or open my travel protein packs 🤪 they also provide just one small bag of coffee to get you through the first day but no cream / sugar. Just seemed to me a little cheap to not offer cream/sugar packets - the location of this condo is at the back / side of the resort near employee parking. We actually liked it bc you could park really close (get in/out quickly) but you do have to walk by the dumpsters etc to get to it - As per very strict instructions with the AC and the refrigerator, we tried not to overuse anything. We only turned on AC at night at 72 degrees, but despite that, after 4 nights the AC started rattling and making super loud noises.... The refrigerator would only cool things to a “Luke cool” - I had yogurt that spoiled bc it wasn’t staying cold

The nightly price is very competitive for HBR - I searched long and hard for the "best" studio to suite my needs and budget. Two suggestions - add a note in the description about the incredibly steep walkway to get to the condo - I'm still in awe that it meets any code anywhere but navigated it ok. tricky with groceries.And give the condo a REALLY good cleaning - especially the ceiling - dust bunnies hang all over the ceiling and on occasion the fan blows them down on the bed. While HBR has seen better days, the pool is an oasis and the views are breathtaking,
