Good condo, with a great view of Hanalei Bay! Pretty far away from parking but we were able to take a golf cart when we had luggage.

Perfect Vacation Spot

My husband and I had a great time at the Hanalei Bay Resort! Perfectly located in Princeville, all of the sights and restaurants that we wanted to go to on the north shore were only a short drive away. We also watched the most amazing sunset while staying in this unit!

Great view and property

The place was perfect for a week getaway. The view from the balcony was beautiful and the property had way more amenities than we expected. The room also came with beach chairs and snorkeling gear which was a plus.

Would definitely recommend

Really enjoyed my stay here. The property is really beautiful. They have an amazing beach for snorkeling. The room feels slightly dated but the view from the balcony makes up for it. The location of the room is at the end of the property but we didn’t mind the walk and they also provided free pickup and drop off service.

HBR with great view

We've stayed at HBR several times. This unit is a quiet end unit with great views. Unfortunately, the unit is very small compared to other units and does not have a kitchenette

Slice of paradise

This lock off unit is perfect for couples. Unit has a beautiful view of Hanalei bay. We spent many nights watching the sunset from the lanai. The property is beautiful and lush and perfectly located. We would definitely stay here again in the future!

Despite the annoying sounds the chickens constantly make at all hours of the day and night, and the 2 AM party next door, we loved it and would come again! The room and accommodations were perfect and as described. Thanks:)

Perfect for 2!

The unit we rented was perfect for our return to Hanalei Bay Resort! Although it was the farthest from the parking lot, we loved the privacy and direct view of the Bay and Bali Hi!! The unit was in great condition and had everything we needed! Thanks!

Beautiful Sunset Views at a Charming Resort

Views from the lanai of Hanalei Bay and Bali Hai are exceptional. The unit itself is a little outdated and could use a little love but it’s totally fine. The resort has a bit of an old-school field and I say that in the best way… We really like this place and would go back. The pool is exceptional

Would 100% stay here again, only issue was the listing was a tad misleading as it indicated they’re was a kitchen but there was only a mini fridge. If you can get over that, fairly priced and awesome location.

Breathtaking View!

Stayed 2 nights at the Hanalei Bay Resort as part of my honeymoon. The resort itself is absolutely incredible with stunning views all over! The pool and hot tub are amazing at the resort, it is a short 8 minute drive to Hanalei Bay, surrounding restaurants, and other water activities. The room had a spectacular view of the mountains overlooking the bay. The shower was very nice, but the only negative comment I have is that the carpet needs to be replaced as it smelled kind of musty in the room. Other than that my experience was outstanding and I definitely will come back!

Great location

The end unit location was exception along with the view. We liked how you converted one side of the closet into a coffee bar area. The view is spectacular. The carpet however was significantly stained and the screen door was very difficult to open. Aside from those two repairable things the unit was perfect.

Nice place

Nice room with a nice view. A couple of small complaints about the resort. The location is a little ways out of the way. The parking is pretty limited and only one small restaurant is open in the resort (they said the main reastaurant was reopening soon after about 10 years), and many people staying in the neighboring area come to eat here so they use up the parking and there is always a wait at the restaurant that is also open limited hours. My only complaint directly related to the room is that there are signs on the units owned by this company asking to leave your shoes outside. I did so, and in the process of being in our room for about ten minutes my $100 sandals were stolen. We were 99% sure it was a man that was a contracted cleaner for a different unit, owned by someone else, but the resort wasn't really any help in finding out who stole them.

Our Stay at Condo 7201

My wife and I were not at the resort to enjoy and partake in all the amenities, so we spent little time there. We got the impression that the resort is meant to be a place where patrons find all they need. We were out and about every day. The a/c unit was not working well when we arrived and it was fixed on one of our days out. However, then it was on all the time - the regulating controls did not seem to work right. There were no spare bulbs in the condo and a burned out bulb was not replaced, but we had adequate light. The space was smaller than we anticipated, but it was comfortable enough. The bed was too soft, but there are people who prefer that, so it is a personal preference. Overall, it was a good stay. We would have liked to have more time to enjoy the resort and explore more. Next time!

There was NO kitchen. Even using the term kitchenette was BS

There were five other people staying at Hanalei Bay Resorts who also got screwed by the lock out units. Vacation Realty of Hawaii (Stephanie in that office) confirmed that morning of our check in that there was a full kitchen and laundry in the unit. We purchased $200 in groceries. There wasn't anything to cook with at the grills downstairs and a tiny fridge was all we had. The coffee maker was missing a top so that didn't work. And using a bathroom sink as the only sink...The AC didn't work and the nasty manager at Vacation Realty Hawaii was so unpleasant that we chose to not have anymore interaction with that company. This all reflects poorly on VRBO. I will never book anything through VRBO in the future.

Great Resort, Terrible Room

You walk into this studio apartment and see a gorgeous backdrop… then get hit with a dingy and moldy smell permeating from the carpet and condo. Carpet had stains and feels like it has ten years of dust on it. Our bedsheets had hair and numerous small stains on them. Also our towels had stains on every single one. We contacted the property manager and she replied within the day but couldn’t get us clean items until the NEXT DAY… so we put a blanket over the sheets and slept on top. I assume this happens a lot because there is a sign in the room saying “they have the right to fix cleaning issues”. Overall the resort and view is what you are paying for. Condo is gross and not clean!

Overall it was a beautiful property with nice staff but here are biggest issues with this listing: 1. Resort fees: there were 3 digit $ resort fees for one night. To be fair, I later discovered they were on this listing but they are only seen if you hit “show more” at the very bottom in the more details sections. This is sneaky and deceiving in my opinion. 2. This isn’t a hotel or hotel accommodations - trash had to be taken out, products are not great, you don’t have a mini fridge in the room and your pool towels can only be swapped out at the front desk. You can’t get amenities like a rollaway bed. It is below the standards of a hotel. 3. The fancy restaurant is closed but the crazy thing is it’s listed as an open restaurant!! It’s on google as open, it’s on all the maps from the resort, etc., We went expecting a good dinner only to show up and see pizza. The worst part was the restaurant was closed 8 YEARS AGO. This is absolutely insane to me and inconvenient. 4. The hot tub - the pool is beautiful but the hot tub jets and below average and it closed at 10 and didn’t open till 8 or 9. 5. Most importantly, the listing doesn’t match the property! We didn’t have a kitchenette, let alone a coffee maker. Our room was a bed and a bathroom. It was many 200 sq feet not 600 sq feet!!

Rating Details: The property manager was somewhat unhelpful. The vacation rental was very dirty. I was happy with the location. I was very dissatisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: The location of this room was beautiful and had a great view. However, the room itself was very disappointing. It is very old and dated. The ceiling is crumbling in places with mold in the bathroom, mold on the shower curtain, mounds of sand in the corners, and a very musty smell. It could definitely use a lot of work! And it wouldn’t take a lot to make this property much nicer and more appealing. It feels as though zero effort was put in to making this stay welcoming. The amenities at the resort could also use a lot of updating. Check in at the front desk took forever and the line was so long at other times we just never bothered to ask for anything. Bring your own beach towels! They do offer them, but you have to stand in line forever to get them and then you have to physically hand them your old ones in order to get a new one, again, standing in line.

No Privacy

Rating Details: The property manager was very unhelpful. The vacation rental was somewhat dirty. I was somewhat unhappy with the location. I was somewhat dissatisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: The resort itself was a great spot, amazing pool, tennis court and a golf cart shuttle to the beach. I would come back but definitely would not stay at this condo. We were not pleased with the condo. The vent in the bathroom had so much build up dust, it looked like it hadn’t been cleaned for years. The condo had a connecting door to a different condo that we were unaware about, which was fine but the door had a huge gap at the bottom. When I say huge, I mean I was able to put my hand underneath and grab our neighbors belongings. We could hear everything that our neighbor was doing as if they were standing right next to us and so we never wanted to be in room or make any noice. I told Kristin (host) about this and her solution was to put a towel underneath the door. Not even a little compensation. We were not happy especially since this was our 1st time in Kauai.

Alright if you're alright with "not terrible" fine print

This unit was alright. I’d forewarn anyone staying here that the images and description feature choice omissions which can be confusing and misleading.Photos are strategically taken from the one exact angle that omits the eyesore of a wall which is really what you’ll see more of. Bed was hard, lumpy and for us very uncomfortable. Don’t expect what you pay on VRBO per night to be your total cost. You WILL pay an extra 50 per night on top of that in additional resort fees for each day you stay, which is apparently buried in “the fine print” but wasn’t clearly stated at the time we booked. In the room, everything is superficially clean. Behind/around furniture isn't so clean. We did come across 2 cockroaches.The fan didn’t work and the light for it was controlled by the other part of this "Lock off" unit so we were woken up at 5/6am to a light which the other unit could control. Be warned It is a LONG walk to the unit with steep incline, or you’ll wait for a golf cart.The HBR will not tend to your room. Only the property manager can.However when we contacted the manager they don’t answer their phones, only text, and it was at least a 24 hour delay or more. The responses were usually something like “we will look into it” but no actual solution or fix.I absolutely plan to go back to Princeville and possibly even this resort again, but I certainly would choose a different unit and property manager for my stay there in the future.
