"The apartment was in a very central location, only a few moments away from the main shopping mall in Funchal, and coffee shop almost on the doorstep. There was a kitchenette, washing machine and ironing board provided, and all useful utensils provided (even sachets of oil for using the frying pan). Check in was simple with the use of door codes. "Really awful management, had to cancel our stay due to a medical emergency. Had asked management for a letter of cancellation or no show for my insurance policy and they’ve ignored all requests and have refused to provide evidence which means we can’t even go through the travel insurance to get some of the money back. Really disgraceful service and would advise to stay away from booking with such an awful company due to the lack of general help."

"The Hotel is in an excellent location within the edge of the Old Town therefore walking distance to all the bars, restaurants, shops and promenade. Very quiet hotel, pleasant laid back atmosphere. Reception staff were friendly and helpful, including a welcome glass of sparkling wine! We only ate breakfast there each day which was very good, buffet style although there were specials you could order also. Great range of hot and cold foods, pastries and fruit. Overall we would happily recommend this hotel."

"It is a beautiful hotel, we had a balcony with an ocean view. The breakfast is first class, the service was hospitable. And the location was perfect for us - only a 20 minute walk to the Funchal Marina, with an abundance of beautiful cafe's and shops. I would definitely recommend this hotel."

"The Evening buffet didn’t meet our expectations. It had overdone meat in several different options. The food wasn’t hot and the salads were almost gone. We both didn’t think it was worth the money. The breakfast buffet was much higher standard. Couldn’t fault anything else. Design, staff, cleanliness and facilities were exceptional"

"Lovely hotel, with great sea view rooms. We had premium All inclusive which was well worth it for the al carte breakfast and additional nights at the restaurants. Swimming pools are great, mostly couples there, a few young children as not a child friendly hotel really. It's 4 euros to play pool for an hour, which is fair. One critisim is the number of flies and bugs. At the buffet/drink stations there are a lot of flies, with cakes/lemons/honey left out. It was a bit off putting, however it was always cleaned if something left out / causing the issue. We did get a lot of bites at night as well, including inside and mostly around ankles and feet - take bug spray. The shuffle service to Funchal isn't worth it, better to get an uber if a couple, can come and go as you please and the same money, choose CR7 as the drop off point. Lots of vegetarian options in the buffet also and proper drinks brands served. Entertainment was okay, mostly live music."

"Definitely a 5 star experience. Everything is clean and well maintained. Well trained staff. The room is spacious and the bed and linens are top notch! the breakfast is superb! The only thing that needs updating is the bath/shower. The pressure is fantastic but the drain can't keep up and the temperature is hard to regulate. Restaurants: Brisa do Mar, excellent. I would skip Villa Cipriani, food was average."
