"Fabulous property - luxurious and well appointed, great hosts who were friendly and welcoming. The house is ideally situated in Wigtown so right by some lovely pubs, bookshops and nice areas for walking. We were a group of 6 adults and 4 young children (and a dog) and it perfectly suited our needs - plenty of space and ideal for a group get together. We can’t wait to return!"

The Ship Inn

The Ship Inn

"Parking was in the street outside the hotel and not a problem. The room was large and spacious and the bathroom was spacious with a great overhead shower. The bar was very large and plenty of room in the restaurant. Best to book a table as it gets busy with locals. The staff were very helpful, attentive and the menu had a good selection and the food was very great. Can recommend the fish and chips or the Sea bass. The breakfast was in the restaurant and cooked to order with plenty to choose from. The Ship Inn has a beer gardens just across the road with views over the river. It’s also a short walk to the town/village and the old Mill is well worth visiting as it has a good history of the town and a nice cafe. I would also recommend driving towards the small war memorial and then taking the road sign posted to a parking area with amazing views across the area. Although the stay was a bit pricy I would have no problem staying again if in the area."

The Galloway Steading- The Fox's Den couples retreat cabin with Hot tub

10/10 Excellent
"Amazingly relaxed setup, lovely grounds, fantastic quality room and extras. The wife and I had an absolute blast with our dog for our anniversary. The hot tub was the star of our stay! Could not fault the place, even if we tried. Only tiny downside was a dog poop from a previous visitor had not been cleaned up prior to our check-in, which didn't bother us much as we had to pick our own up anyway lol, but can see how that would be very off-putting to others.Anyway, would definitely recommend this stay to anyone looking to unplug for a while in a beautiful spot with fantastic views. The honesty shop was also a nice touch."

"We enjoyed our stay at the lodge. It was clean, quiet and comfortable, with great views. It's conveniently placed to be able to explore sites and attractions in the area. Only suggestions would be to look at the flooring which seemed to be giving way in some places. Also, we didn't use the hot tub as the welcome booklet said it needed to be cleaned after use but it wasn't clear how to clean it. Otherwise, all good."

Spacious House With Amazing Sea View

Spacious House With Amazing Sea View

10/10 Excellent
"If you want to be away from it all, this is the place. There are more cows and linnets than humans for miles and the views of the bay at any time of day are just stunning. We loved being able to see the deer, hares and birds of prey in the adjoining fields - with the added bonus of spotting the odd seal or three relaxing in the tranquil waters of the bay or lazing on the rocks on an evening. We also lost (so!) many hours being entranced by the families of House Martins whizzing past the windows like aerial acrobats feeding their (incredibly cute) young under the eves. The house is really well equipped, the beds are comfy and the showers certainly do not lack any power! But the views of the bay from the main lounge are just fantastic and the main selling point. Elspeth was a great host and very helpful/responsive to all our queries. All in all, it was a wonderful week. 100% recommend."
