"We did not know Italy at all before this stay, and wanted somewhere not too busy with tourists - this villa turned out to be perfect! The villa itself was great - big, well appointed, and cool in the day. There was so much space outside, plus the beautiful pool. There is a footpath that goes to a small stream and then the village, and it was great to be able to walk to the bar / bakery / restaurant. Recommend Il Pozzo! We were a bit surprised when a few dogs found their way into the garden but then realised the footpath runs behind the large hedge (you can’t see people, but do hear them and see their dogs sometimes) Not a problem but given the otherwise remoteness of the villa, it can give you a start to suddenly hear voices! We found it easy to get out and about - we did Cinque Terre one day (not to be missed!) and also very much enjoyed Castiglione, the village just up the hill. Access into the villa’s driveway is a bit tight but we soon got used to it, and worth it for the peacefulness of the villa at the end of the track. Loriana was there to welcome us on arrival and was easily contacted if we needed anything (we didn’t but good to know). We would love to come again to this area, and would not hesitate to book this villa again."

"We absolutely loved our stay in Elisabetta's beautifully restored farmhouse. There was everything we needed there , even for committed cooks. The house is very authentic and copes with the local weather perfectly even without aircon. The views were magnificent, the beds comfortable and Elisabetta could not have been more welcoming and helpful.The village of Castiglione is a short walk and offers a restaurant, a pizzeria a great bar and a couple of shops. A very charming spot.The surrounding areas are worth exploring and there is plenty of walking too.All in all a perfect holiday.Thank you Elisabetta xx"

"Had a wonderful stay at the villa in Castiglione di Garfagnana. The villa is spacious, very clean, relaxing, and has quite a few activities to do on the property. The views overlooking the property were fantastic and the pool was great. There's also a few small football goals, darts, bocce, volleyball, and more. Communication with the owner was very good as well whenever we needed him and definitely recommend going to Il Pozzo for dinner in town one night. We couldn't walk into town unfortunately as the bridge built by the owners across the river had been taken away by the rain, but it's only a 10 minute drive. A few things to consider for people looking to stay here: - Do NOT use Google Maps go to the latitude/longitude coordinates given by Vrbo to get to the property. This leads to a separate private property and the owners messaged us a meeting point at the entrance point of the track to take us to the property. - The off road track to the villa (~700 meters) can be very bumpy and slippery after rain."

"Flaviano and his family were the perfect hosts. We spent 2 weeks celebrating my birthday with friends and family at their beautiful villa in the friendly village of Pieve Fosciana. Flaviano is a chef and he prepared several meals for us that were absolutely delicious, using ingredients all from within 1km of the property. We were able to pick ingredients from the garden when we cooked for ourselves. The view from the windows and rooftop terraces are breathtaking. The area is magnificent for exploring numerous small villages and doing walks. There are a couple of nice local restaurants you can reach on foot and many more within 5 minutes drive. Luca makes a wonderful day trip! Thank you Flaviano and family for making my significant birthday celebration very special. "

"I would not recommend staying during the very hot months due to the lack of air conditioning. There were 2 AC units for the entire place and not enough fans for all the rooms. The place was tidy, but it was very old and musty-smelling. If you leave the windows open on 2nd floor, the breeze is nice, but I can see why this is not very safe for kids.. a fall from the windows would be fatal. There were wild boars out by the tennis courts once it got dark, so keep watch! Beds were comfortable. View was outstanding. Showers were very small and we ran out of toilet paper. The wifi was not dependable. The swimming pool and tennis court were wonderful. A better path to the tennis court would be appreciated, the kids walked through some tall grass and there were bees. Carlos was the best! He came over to help us with the pizza oven and that was the highlight of our stay. We appreciate that. Anna was very responsive. Some suggestions: Include instructions for how to use the oven, as well as the dryer. (We didn't realize the water compartment had to be emptied.)"
