Everything in the Please Touch Museum, from exhibits to performances, is totally interactive. The museum is housed in the Memorial Hall of Fairmount Park, one of the few structures remaining from the 1876 World's Fair, and aims to educate through fun, allowing kids to run, jump, play and generally act their age, all while absorbing some fascinating facts about their world.The contrast between the original interior of the building and the exhibits it contains is interesting for the adults, though not everything displayed in the museum is ultra-modern. The Centennial Exploration Exhibit, for example, takes visitors back in time to the era of the World's Fair, while one of the most popular attractions of all is the beautifully restored carousel dating from 1908.Nature's Pond offers a chance for kids to uncover a wealth of animals hiding in the surrounding grass, while the Fairytale Garden will transport them to a world of fantasy and nursery rhymes. There are also a number of live theatre performances that will get them involved in the action. Move It gives younger kids the chance to get behind the wheel, while older kids can take the helm and splash around at the River Adventures exhibit. Follow this with a visit to the Alice in Wonderland maze for tea with the Mad Hatter or a spot of croquet with the Queen of Spades – just make sure that you're not late!The Please Touch Museum is located in Fairmount Park on the west bank of the Schuylkill River, and is easy to reach by car or public transport. The museum is open every day and gets particularly busy during school holidays and when the weather is poor. It's worth mentioning that parents are expected to remain with and care for their own children at all times.
