2 separate visits to the Royal Tahitien were OK, at best. Though I had specifically requested a room with 2 beds, neither reservation was accurate. The first time, my travel companion and I had 1 King bed which could have been separated to make 2 beds. We were both exhausted following a long day of travel, arriving in Tahiti at 4am & unable to check in to the room until 2pm. We asked, before even checking in, if the room had 2 beds & were told it did. By the time we got to the room, we were too tired to go through the nuisance of having the beds separated, so we each used our individual sleep sacks on “our” side of the bed. When returning to the hotel less than 1 week later, we again verified that the request was for 2 separate beds. Again, we were assured of 2 beds. The hotel was either full or not all the rooms had been serviced when we were able to check in, so we were upgraded to a studio - with 1 Queen bed which could NOT be separated. I returned to the Front Desk to advise them of the error. The man at the Front Desk looked at me like a deer caught in headlights. He had no idea of the bedding type. After quite a bit of discussion with a colleague, he told me that we would change rooms and that “someone else” had made an error by giving us the studio and a couple the room with 2 beds. No sooner had I returned to the room to advise my friend that we would move to another room, a staff member & the couple knocked on the door, telling us to get out. Not a good experience.
The hotel is on a private black sand beach which was never crowded. All of the staff were very pleasant and spoke English. We ate at the breakfast buffet which had a good selection. Two nights we ate dinner at the hotel and the quality and service were great. The pool is small but a nice place to just relax. The rooms are clean and well furnished but away from the beach.
Everything is ok only thing I didn’t like they have chickens here walking around and they started to screen at 4:00 am in the morning
Not much really that I like but the Island and the bartender that let us borrow a wine opener. This hotels pool was green and out of service, shower was broken on arrival with drain clogged, A/C never really cooled the room down during the day, property was poorly kept and in a state of disrepair. Staff tried but failed to even get us to the ferry terminal on time. They did help reschedule the transfer at our next stop though.
