We travelled to Queenstown to ride the West Coast Wilderness Railway and stayed two nights at the Comfort Inn Gold Rush Motel. It is very difficult to choose a motel when you are travelling. We booked the room before we left home not knowing what we were going to find. It was a pleasant surprise to open the door and find such a lovely room.

Beautiful accommodation in a beautiful part of the world. We spent Christmas here and it was just perfect. Super close to all the great sights in the national park, with a bus stop just across the road and some excellent walks starting from the lodge itself. The Great Lake Hotel lies way up on the central plateau and hence is a great place to explore this alpine wilderness. If you like trout fishing there is ample choice. Regarding the Hotel, rooms are very comfortable, staff are so friendly, restaurant is good and the wallabies are a delight in the evening. This is a great place to relax for a few days.
