"We had a very poor experience at this hotel. Just a one night stay to visit my kids who live in Richmond. The first room had a mechanical issue with an aircon unit in the bedroom that's not pushing good air but making a terrible compressor sound... Couldn't be turned off and so chang d rooms at 4am. The second room, as we entered the room after 4am, had both aircon unit running full blast, very cold. Attempted to adjust thermostat but aircon unit in bedroom would not shut down. Managed to unplug it. Finally, a quiet room that's cold but acceptable. Would not stay here ever again."

"Parking was very safe. Breakfast was typical hotel style. Hampton Inn has the worse egg breakfast, whether it is omelets or scrambled. The rest of the breakfast was typical. "

The hotel exudes refinement without feeling stuffy, and it’s easy to see why The Jefferson is a beloved institution in the city. Food and Breakfast:** The breakfast was superb, with a distinct Southern Virginia touch that felt comforting and refined at the same time. I enjoyed Virginia ham for breakfast, and it truly took me to heaven—rich, savory, and perfectly prepared. The menu felt both fresh and thoughtfully curated. Staff and Service:** The staff were outstanding, delivering Southern charm with professionalism and warmth. Each interaction felt personalized, attentive, and genuinely friendly. Rooms and Cleanliness:** The room was immaculate, with classic decor that maintained the hotel’s historic charm while offering modern comforts. "The floor throughout the room including the bathroom was nasty. It took forever for my shower water to get warm enough to tolerate. I heard people talking ALL night. People were hanging out all evening drinking and leaving beer bottles outside."
