A beautiful little cottage set back from the main road in Long Rock, behind the local post office. It was clean and well equipped with many things I wasn’t expecting such as dish soap, dishwasher and washing machine tablets as well as bin bags, salt etc, all of which I’d taken with me. There were also lots of dog bowls which again I wasn’t expecting so had taken with me. There was a welcome pack of Cornish goodies and milk in the fridge. The cottage is well laid out with living, kitchen and dining room in one. Two bedrooms along the corridor ending with a bathroom. As it’s all on one level it was ideal for me and my husband as we’re both disabled. Our two dogs loved it too although there was a lot of barking when the frequent trains passed but they eventually got used to it. The washing machine is situated at the end of the property in a shed extension. The garden is small and completely fenced in on all sides with mature plants and a spectacular specimen of a fatsia japonica just by the door. Ideal to keep dogs from getting out. There’s parking space for one car but I’d advise reversing in because it’s really tight parking to avoid hitting the nearby residents cars. Also beware of the oven thermostat switch as it is loose and falls off. The first time it happened I put it back the wrong way up and ended up trying to cook something for about 70 minutes in vain. All in all the property is warm but we did have to use the wood burner on one particular day when it was rainy heavily and quite cold. It’s situation is ideally positioned for exploring the South of Cornwall and it’s surrounding villages. We didn’t realise until the Friday evening that one end of the garden backs onto the garden of the local pub when we heard lots of people talking. It wasn’t a problem though. One of the cutest things in the garden is the painted pebbles left by previous visitors and the owners leave a basket of pebbles and some acrylic pens to actively encourage people to leave them. All in all a lovely visit. We’d definitely recommend it.
Thanks for a lovely stay Andy and Jo.
