About this property

Berlewen - a cottage that sleeps 6 guests in 3 bedrooms

  • Mousehole is magical, and if you're in search of a holiday home here that's both gorgeous and perfectly positioned, this fabulous harbourside cottage is a dream. Beautifully open plan in design, the living room spans the width of the cottage, with two large sash windows framing views of the harbour. A plush velvet sofa, cast iron wood-burner, and statement lighting create a sumptuous space to unwind in, while the dining area invites leisurely breakfasts and evening meals.

The kitchen is both attractive and practical, with an ornamental Cornish range, slate worktops and a range of top-notch appliances. Upstairs, two airy double bedrooms (one ensuite) have sash windows that showcase incredible sea views. The relaxed, paired-back styling lends an ease to the rooms, and bespoke upside-down blinds encourage guests to take advantage of those essential lazy mornings lie-ins. The third bedroom is a delight for families with children and has two single beds and a TV. Stunning design details and playful twists pepper this home's interior, like reclaimed school desks as bathroom vanities, stripped and painted floorboards, and an outdoor shower nook between the lane and back door.

Of course, not enough can be said about this property's location which is right on edge of the harbour and just metres from the beach. Mousehole's pretty streets and fabulous restaurants are a carefree stroll from the front door, and even if you did feel like venturing further afield, some of Cornwall's most beautiful scenery at Porthcurno and Marazion are within a few minutes' drive.

Lovely stay

Had a lovely stay at Berlewen, very comfortable, the kitchen had everything you could need. The pictures don’t do it justice, and despite visiting in January a lot of the shops/pubs in the village was open.

Our best Cornwall holiday yet

This is an absolute gem. The location could not be better, right on the harbour front. The house itself is well looked after, with everything you need. Very cosy, especially with the log-burner going. We have been coming to Cornwall every winter for years and years, and this is hands down our favourite place yet. We were there when the famous Mousehole Christmas lights were on, which just added to the magic of the week. Thank you!

Luxury Location

The luxury for us was the cottage location . Wonderful views of the harbour and the coast line . Easy access to all there is to see in this part of Cornwall . Parking was straightforward ( we did visit out of season ) . Mousehole is very quaint , a few nice restaurant and shops to try , larger supermarkets in nearby towns . Cottage has everything you need . I wouldn’t say it was “luxury “ more “comfortable “ but its location is the bonus !

February in Mousehole

We spent February half term at Berlewen - grandparents, parents and grandchildren of 6 and 1 year. Despite the weather the cottage was warm and cosy. We enjoyed the log burning stove. The position directly on the harbour front was great for staring out of the window watching the sea and life go by, and taking the boys down on to the beach. We appreciated the buckets and spades left in a cupboard, also a few toys and books. In the height of the summer the location might feel a bit busy with people coming and going to the car park. Also there is no outside space to sit except for coming out on to the harbour. The kitchen is very well equipped and the welcome package was appreciated. Comfortable beds and good showers. Luxury Coastal were very responsive to any queries.

Liked: Cleanliness, check-in, communication, location, listing accuracy
Location was wonderful, looking out of the harbour was perfect.tea on the bench on front Parking wasn’t an issue if there wasn’t a space in the harbour you wait two minutes and someone soon leaves or as we did many a night went up to the pub in Paul for a meal(excellent couldn’t recommend it enough, food lovely and staff and atmosphere nice) left the car in the car park and walked home and walked back up (10mins tops) in the morning. The pub in the harbour got to busy for us so went to the pub in Paul (kings arms)most days or the old coastguard for an amazing view over the sea and more high end. We did some lovely coastal path walks and the buses were great so leaving the car walking and bussing back when we got tired was easy. The cottage was clean and well stocked the welcome pack was the best we’ve ever had. The communication was great, the hot water stopped working (ended up being a broken switch on the boiler) we rang the local contact Tristan who arrange a plumber to come round that same day whilst we were out and it was fixed instantly. So really wasn’t an issue these things happen and didn’t effect us as that morning we used the electric shower instead. Only thing I’d say is the barn door at the front of the property needs a bit of hip action to open as the bottom part was a bit stiff to open and had us baffled for 5 minutes when we first got there thinking the lock wasn’t unlocking but it was just needed a shove. We had a great holiday and would definitely go back.
