Sitting in the shelter of Mounts Bay, some 2½ miles from Penzance, lies the historic fishing village of Mousehole, once described by Dylan Thomas as the loveliest in England. Pronounced ’Mowzel’, the village was recorded as early as 1266, and you get a real sense of timelessness as you wander the narrow streets, while the picturesque harbour offers a sandy beach at low tide. The Boat Watch is perfect for families and also appeals to couples looking for that great get-away-from-it-all retreat, all year round. The owners run a prestigious restaurant, located under the apartment and provide guests with the opportunity to experience the convenience of excellent food during their stay. There is an option to run your own tab and even have meals delivered and served in the apartment. From a full three course meal to drinks and desserts, nothing is too much trouble. The restaurant has a vibrant continental feel, located on Mousehole harbour front with stunning views across Mounts Bay. There is an al fresco feel to the secluded and sheltered rear garden, ideal for a quiet drink or leisurely lunch. The area is perfect for exploring the many delights of West Cornwall and the area is renowned for its artists and crafts. Within easy reach of Newlyn, Penzance, Lands End, the famous surfing beach at Sennen, and the picturesque town of St Ives. Visit the Tate Modern or the open air romantic Minack Theatre. The Boat Watch has its own front door and private staircase which leads to the first floor apartment. The enclosed hallway and fully double glazed windows and additional sound proofing ensure the apartment is conveniently located but quiet. The Boat Watch accommodates four guests in two comfortable double bedrooms, beautifully appointed bathroom, light and comfortable open plan living room with woodburner and kitchen area with views of the harbour. Shop, pub and restaurant 50 yards.

The view overlooking the harbour from the Boat Watch was amazing! We read about the noise from the seagulls before we booked, but it just adds to the time spent down in Mousehole. You will be wide awake and not miss the sunrise! It was a good location for coastal walks and we used the local bus into Penzance so we didn't have to move the car for days! We parked on the way out of the village roadside no problem, just a slight hill walk when we did have to use the car. Staff in the restaraunt below were friendly and their food/service was great.Lovely place, we will return for sure.

Our second time here and again very enjoyable and comfortable despite visiting in windswept February. The flat has everything required and is in the centre of the village, with a great view and easy location to find. Parking and stairs might be the only issues for people with limited mobility but fine for us.

Great location on the village harbour front.
Great location on the village harbour front. Lovely log burner and great chairs for looking out the window! It was pretty noisy though as you can hear full, clear conversation from downstairs so don’t expect a long lie in! Very comfy beds and a moderately equipped kitchen (you should bring your own sponge for washing up as we were only supplied with a cloth and the last person hadn’t really cleaned their pans all that well!)

The Boat Watch is a comfortable and stylish apartment.
The Boat Watch is a comfortable and stylish apartment. We had a lovely week here. Mousehole is a charming location and well-placed to visit other places in West Cornwall - St Ives, Penzance, Prothcurno, Sennen Cove, Zennor etc. The take away food at the restaurant downstairs was an added bonus during these covid times - lovely to eat in the garden or upstairs in The Boat Watch.

The flat is very comfortable, newly renovated, spacious and the layout is extremely good.
The flat is very comfortable, newly renovated, spacious and the layout is extremely good. It is very light and bright. The windows in the kitchen, one bedroom and sitting room face the front of the building while the bathroom and second bedroom face the back of the building looking onto the pretty restaurant garden. From the windows, one can see the harbour and sea and the entire main street of Mousehole.
The staff in the restaurant are all very welcoming and helpful. Due to COVID the restaurant was doing only takeaway (which you could also eat in the restaurant and garden) in cardboard boxes.
Due to the very central location at the corner of two small but main roads and the bus stop, and the restaurant activities on the garden side, it is not quiet, so be aware of that if you are sensitive to noise. Actually the main noise was generated by the incessant screaming of the seagulls, which commenced at 5 am, but that may be the case in all locations.

A wonderful apartment within a stunning location, with the staff just a moment away downstairs to help, booking in the restaurant below is a must the food is sensational. It can get a little noisy in the evening from the restaurant below until around 10pm but this is to be expected staying above a popular restaurant. If your looking for quiet this isn't the right place but if you don't mind a vibrant atmosphere and happy to watch the world go by on the harbour with amazing sunsets this is for you.

What a lovely flat! We had a very cosy time in the heart of Mousehole, and we were pleased to be provided with a fully equipped kitchen and logs for the burner.
The only thing worth considering, especially if you're a family, is that the restaurant and kitchens downstairs operate until late, which makes the flat very noisy through the floorboards. The most affected room is the second bedroom, which is a pane of glass away from kitchen porters who must do their recycling and cleaning until midnight.
All in all, the flat is a fresh, light and airy space that looks over the harbour. It couldn't be more central, and has a telly, dvd player, and even complimentary wine and milk! I can't fault the location or flat: but beware the evening/night time noise.

A lovely clean and comfortable flat above an amazing restaurant with lovely staff.
A lovely clean and comfortable flat above an amazing restaurant with lovely staff. Downside was the clock tower next door and very central location meant it was noisy in the evenings. Fine for adults but I would not recommend for babies/ small children as they were constantly woken. Also could do with better hot water and shower. All in all a lovely trip but could have done with some more sleep!
