The COVID-19 outbreak may have changed the way we travel, but it hasn't put the brakes on our zeal for exploring. Here are a few tips on how to handle the new challenges of travelling:

• Investigate if any travel restrictions apply to your destination and origin before booking anything. Also check if there are any requirements you'll need to follow on arrival, such as health testing.
• When you pass through airport checkpoints, keep your face mask on. You will be required to lower it briefly to verify your identity. Travellers who refuse to wear a mask may face civil penalties and may also be escorted from the building.
• To decrease the risk of cross-contamination, position your boarding pass on the reader yourself and then hold it up for inspection. Do not hand your pass directly to a TSA officer.
• You're allowed to take one container of hand sanitizer up to 12 oz (350 ml) in your hand luggage. This will need to be removed for X-ray screening.
• Place any personal items (e.g, keys, phone and wallet) in your carry-on instead of a bin to minimize handling during screening.
• If you're planning to take food on board, place it in a clear plastic bag and then into a screening bin. This reduces the likelihood that a TSA agent will need to handle your carry-on bag or food container for inspection.
