Discover the Panthéon, a stunning example of early-neoclassicist architecture in the Latin Quarter of Paris. This historic site looks out over the entire city. The Panthéon was originally built as a church, though it is now a secular mausoleum holding the remains of distinguished French citizens. Visit this famous building in the 5th Arrondissement of Paris.

Take a free tour through the Latin Quarter. This area is known as a source of inspiration for great artists and writers of the early 20th century, including Pablo Picasso and Ernest Hemingway. Stop at the bohemian-style bars, exquisite cafés and the haunts of some of these celebrated creative figures.

See displays of decorative plants, an alpine garden and hundreds of species of roses at the Paris Botanical Garden. This magnificent garden is located on the east bank of the River Seine. Find the National Museum of Natural History and a small zoo, La Ménagerie, within the Paris Botanical Garden. Notice threatened species in the zoo, including the red panda and the orangutan.

Find a wide collection of medieval art and artefacts at the National Museum of the Middle Ages. Discover the original heads from the façade of Notre Dame, unearthed during an excavation in the late 20th century. See tapestries, including the medieval Lady and the Unicorn tapestries, considered one of the greatest works of art from the Middle Ages.

Shop for wine, fresh fruit and vegetables at the lower end of Rue Mouffetard. Some of the wine shops offer tastings on the street and are known to sell high-quality wines at low prices.

The 5th Arrondissement is one of Paris’ most central districts. It is located on the east bank of the River Seine and is easily accessible via the city’s Metro and bus systems. The Panthéon is about a 5-minute walk from the Cardinal Lemoine Métro Station.

Known as a lively district filled with students, the Latin Quarter is perfect to wander around and experience an authentic Paris lifestyle.
