"Sushi restaurant was amazing!!!! Extra Resort fee of $25 and $25 self park/$70 valet was obsurd for an airport hotel with no resort amenities. Rooms were updated and quiet."

"Very grumpy staff on arrival, didn’t explain that we needed to take the card they gave us to breakfast so had to go back to the room for it which then caused a grumpy waiter! Card was given as a temporary hold for any charges but then a charge was taken for late checkout without our permission which we’d planned to pay in cash to avoid charges!"

"Property is not maintained and is pretty run down. They charge you to park your car even if u have a room. Then charge a outrageous deposit . There is no free breakfast or wifi. None of the vending machines worked. No maid service unless your there over 3 days. We had two rooms right next to each other. One was cleaner then the other. And our toilet was broken. There is a mini fridge but no microwave. The only good part was the shuttle to and from disneyland, those guys are extremely nice and did a great job accommodating guests. Its right next to freeway so very loud when u open the window"

"The location is just a short stroll from the iconic clam chowder at Old Fisherman’s Grotto & surrounded by many great dining options. The cinnamon toast at Jack’s Monterey was delish. There’s also a Carmel bakery downstairs, which was a convenient treat to have just steps away. The hotel lobby itself set the tone right away. It felt laid-back yet inviting, exactly the kind of atmosphere we look for when we’re on vacation. We were also able to check in early, which made our arrival smooth. Such a great bonus! They even provided scavenger hunt activities for our kids, which was such a thoughtful touch. This is truly a family-friendly hotel that makes traveling with kids feel easy & enjoyable. I’m very particular about bathrooms, beds, & overall cleanliness, especially since I have an immunocompromised child, so this is something I don’t take lightly. Portola did not disappoint. Both the bathroom & bedroom were spotless & even better than expected in person. The bed & pillows were incredibly comfortable. The A/C worked great, & having a ceiling fan was a nice bonus touch. The photos online truly don’t do this place justice. It’s even more beautiful in person. The heated pool was a hit, & the towels felt clean and luxurious. The staff were nice! There was a tiny red spider spotted on my child’s bed, but thankfully my eldest caught it right away. Aside from that small moment, everything about our stay was superb and exceeded our expectations. Highly recommended!"

"The water pressure was really low, and there was no hot water. The floor was sticky and dirty with hair over the bathroom floor. Sorry the review, just being honest. You get what you pay for."

"The breakfast stuff at entry were very rude and disrespectful. Maria yelled at me and my wife and even when we asked for the manager she continued to be rude . Parking expenses and the system was not working. Rooms were average condition. The hot water to take shower was not easy to use. I had a very bad experience and would not recommend this place at all."
