The bedroom is right next to wear farm animals are kept so there were hundreds (wish I was exaggerating) of flies just constantly flying around inside. Fly spray was used but mounds of them would have to be swept up every day. There was a rat in the kitchen and too many cockroaches to ever feel comfortable. Wish I did my research as I have now booked a much nicer accommodation for a cheaper nightly price.

Sheepish stay
It was a cozy glorious cottage of stupendous beauty. Falling asleep to sheep and waking to cows in the paddock next to us. Everything you’d want in a small Otaki getaway that is close enough to bring hot pizza to the cottage but far away enough to get some peace and quiet ! The upstairs was amazing, 3 skylights that open out into the rural sky and allow you to seek the stars at night. A quaint lovers getaway that allowed us to feel like we had a little cottage on a farm.

Cottage of Choice
We had a great time here. Great directions and easy check-in, tidy and well appointed. Enjoyed getting out in the quiet and fresh air but still 5 minutes away from town. Looking forward to staying again.

Sounds of birds in the bush in a restful country setting, and the barn experience, was a holiday the way it use to be! Ange and the neighbour were very accommodating and friendly.

Suitable but could be improved
The property was secluded behind some scenic bush & relatively plain & simple. However, none of the windows or skylights had curtains so sleeping overnight was more difficult with the light coming through at sunrise.

Lovely peaceful location
Great short stay in a lovely location. Would have liked to have stayed longer. Angela the host was very helpful as we brought an EV and we were able to charge it overnight for a small extra fee.

Loved the little bit of history that was provided in the folder and loved finding the glow worms at night. Accommodation was lovely and views from barn windows upstairs were enjoyable. Would stay here again.

Rustic and basic rural retreat
This truly is a barn stay. An 1880's barn that has been restored and converted. Its very quiet, clean and close to Otaki. The facilities are the minimum required. Would recommend a divider between the beds for small children to sleep behind whilst Mum and Dad stay up. It would be great if there was some tea, coffee and sugar provided as well. Oh and a grater would be good.

Unusual
It was quiet at least. But- i left my bag and things on the floor as it was cleaner than the chairs etc that were on offer. Hair left in the shower, dust everywhere. Roof leaked making stairs dangerous. No tea or coffee. No working smoke alarm in,/ near bedroom. No view of the race course as implied. TV channels all mucked up. Extremely poorly sign posted, could hardly find it. Blown light bulbs. Cobwebs and spiders throughout. Just a shambles. Never again.
