This central district is the beating heart of Os Fornos, offering a blend of historic charm and modern conveniences. The streets here are pedestrian-friendly, making it easy to explore the many traditional tavernas and boutique shops.

Couples will find this area particularly appealing due to its romantic ambiance and easy access to evening strolls along the riverfront, just a short walk from Praza Maior. The numerous high-quality restaurants offer intimate dining experiences, and many accommodations boast lovely views of the historic architecture.

For those travelling with family, the area around Praza Maior is also an excellent choice. Its central location means you're never far from local amenities, and the open space of the square itself provides a pleasant spot for children to stretch their legs.

The best time to visit Os Fornos is typically during the late spring (May to early June) and early autumn (September to early October) when the weather is pleasant and the region is less crowded.

Late spring offers comfortable temperatures, ideal for exploring the natural beauty of the area, including coastal walks and the nearby Fervenza do Ézaro waterfall. The days are long, and the flora is in full bloom, making for particularly scenic drives along the Costa da Morte. This period is excellent for couples seeking a peaceful escape with opportunities for outdoor activities without the peak summer crowds.

Early autumn provides similar agreeable weather conditions with fewer tourists. The sea temperatures are still comfortable for swimming in the quieter coves, and the harvest season brings local culinary delights to the forefront. This is a great time for travellers who appreciate fine dining and local produce, as many restaurants will feature seasonal ingredients.
