"We felt right at home in this house. The key pad was fussy when we first arrived, and VRBO's app did not help us reach the host...not her fault. Maybe the host could message her cell to future guests for emergencies. The house was adorable. Think cabin-y if you go...a bit of a musty smell and some uneven floors...but definitely a solid value with the well-stocked full kitchen, functional living room seating, and extremely comfortable small queen IKEA bed. "This is a ski resort from the '60's that has been recently refurbished. It was perfect for our overnight stay to visit the Porcupine Mountains. Our room was in the main building on the first floor and was updated and clean, quiet in the offseason of September, and the mattress was very comfortable. With the included breakfast of homemade scrambled eggs, sausage and bacon, toast, fresh fruit, yogurt, and granola bars, we found it to be a good value. We also highly recommend the Iron Nugget restaurant in Hurley for dinner - excellent food, service, and ambience - a hidden gem."

"This was a great spot. Possibly the best I’ve been to in the UP. Friendly staff and very well maintained. The owners obviously care about the hotel. Would definitely stay here again if I’m ever visiting the area. A little higher priced than other hotels in the area but well worth it."

"The property was beautiful and well maintained. It was in the perfect location as it was somewhat secluded but still relatively close to town. The private beach was wonderful and the lighted path leading to it was lovely! Communication with our hosts was almost seamless. They answered every question we had so quickly (even one I had about the home's decorating decor). My husband and I went to the area to do a lot of hiking but, I believe that my favorite experiences were those afternoons and evenings we spent on the private beach having dinner, wading in the water, and looking for rocks. I would highly recommend this property and it's owners."

1932 Charming Cottage at the Lake

"This place was perfect. Right on the beach, which is a very private access point. Wooded area shields the wind and sand blowing in off the lake. Fire pit out back under the trees couldn't be better. Stars are amazing. House is perfect. Not missing a thing!! For us it was much better than some of the rustic cabin resorts near by that I almost booked before i saw this place. Thanks for a very memorable stay!!"

"Exquisite Lake Superior shore property. Very secluded and private and wonderfully wild. The home is pristine and it really does have everything you need. A testament to the glorious creation of God in the Northern UP of Michigan. Don’t hesitate- just book this for your next trip."
