Frequently asked questions

When is the best time to go to Okavango Delta?
The best time to go to the Okavango Delta is during the dry season, from May to October, when wildlife viewing is at its peak.

During these months, the floodwaters from Angola arrive, causing the delta to swell and attracting a huge concentration of animals. The vegetation is sparser, making it easier to spot wildlife, and animals tend to gather around the remaining water sources. This period offers the best opportunities for mokoro (traditional dugout canoe) excursions and game drives.

Couples looking for a romantic and exclusive safari experience will find this period ideal. The clear skies and comfortable temperatures (though mornings and evenings can be cool) make for pleasant days spent exploring. Many luxury camps offer private viewing decks and intimate dining experiences, great for those celebrating a special occasion.

For families with older children, the dry season also provides excellent educational opportunities. The abundance of wildlife means more frequent and exciting sightings, which can keep younger travellers engaged.
