Mountain House

Welcome to our Mountain House, centrally located in the centre of Ohakune. This accommodation makes a great base for extended family groups of up to 8, to enjoy a mountain escape! House is warm and cosy, with plenty of space with awesome views of Mount Ruapehu. It is situated halfway between the junction and town.

Set over two levels, Mountain House sleeps up to 8; featuring an open plan lounge dining area and kitchen on the first floor with a log burner to keep you snug during those frosty winter stays. On the ground floor there are 2 double rooms with queen beds in each, a bunk room and a bathroom with shower toilet and vanity and the Laundry. The house has two bathrooms, one an ensuite with two showers & two toilets and separate Laundry. Log fire warms house brilliantly. North facing deck with great views of the mountain.

Awesome for a groups or family’s. Ohakune is an excellent all year destination - walking, mountain bike, fish, ski, golf, kayak or just sit and chill in the great New Zealand outdoors, but with all the comforts of home. Biking – then there plenty of space to lock up your gear in the shed. This is a great biking base with easy access to the Old Coach Road and the heap of other surrounding tracks. Mountain House is the perfect base for cycling, tramping and fishing during the summer with loads of other attractions including White Water Rafting, Tongariro Crossing, 42 Traverse or the Bridge to Nowhere.

We offer a very well equipped kitchen - so congregate with your friends while you cook up a storm. Electric stove, microwave and full fridge freezer and coffee machine, so bring those coffee beans.

Entertainment: Lounge has stereo, TV and huge selection of DVD’s and games. Heated by a log fire in the lounge, with additional heaters in each of the down stairs bedrooms. If table tennis is your thing then head down to the attached garage for a game! You might even want to take the sledges up the mountain for a a bit fun, please be carefull with them!

Dining table seats six and is perfect for evening get togethers or to play cards one of the board games board games. In summer enjoy the deck soaking up the sun, lounging in the hammock, or just chill out with the BBQ on the deck, and enjoy the ambience of the evening sunset, while looking over the mountain.

We have a huge front yard for the kids to play and a selection of balls in the garage.

1st bedroom has 1 x Queen bed with ensuite bathroom.
2nd bedroom has 2 x Single bunks (sleeping four).
3rd bedroom has 1 x Queen bed.

Please note all bedrooms are down stairs, while the log burner is upstairs. All bedrooms have a heater but it does mean the bedrooms can be cooler downstairs on the cooler winter nights.

Linen: All beds have duvets and pillows. You will need to bring your own personal linen (sheets, pillow-cases, towels etc)

Bathrooms: The main bathroom has a shower over bath, vanity, and a separate toilet. The second bathroom is an ensuite which has shower, toilet, and vanity.

The large garage is a great space for storing ski gear or bikes during your stay. There is also a generous hot water cupboard kitted out for hanging your jackets on the main level, located in the laundry area.

Heaps of off street parking on the driveway.

Special conditions:

- Guests to leave property clean and tidy as they found it.

Enjoyable and spacious
Great location, awesome house, Shaun the host was very helpful and accommodating. Drying room was very useful. Loved the games and dvd selection! Unusual to not have duvets and blankets, make sure you bring as downstairs is very cold. Bring pillows too as they were average.. But apart from that was a lovely property and would definitely stay again.

Awesome place
Group of mates meet up for a snow trip, the weather wasn’t on our side, but the house was amazing. The extra activities including the table tennis table helped considerably with the weather keeping us indoor. Fireplace got used big time; thanks a heap for the unlimited wood. Awesome weekend all In all. Highly recommend.

Ohakune Mountain House
We really enjoyed our stay here. Lovely location and fantastic views of the mountain. House was well equipped for our needs (cooking, entertainment etc). Very child friendly which was great. Shaun (owner/manager) was very helpful to us when we needed it and responded quickly. Only thing I would change is for the house to be warmer downstairs. It would be perfection then!
