This area is the heart of Oco, known for its historic and religious significance. The Monasterio de Irache, a former Benedictine monastery, is the main landmark. The surrounding landscape consists of rolling hills, vineyards, and agricultural fields, offering a tranquil setting. The Camino de Santiago runs directly through here, making it a natural stopping point for many travellers.

The best time to visit Oco is during the spring (April to June) and autumn (September to October) months.

These periods offer pleasant weather conditions, with mild temperatures that are ideal for exploring the region's historical sites and natural beauty. You'll find fewer crowds compared to the peak summer season, allowing for a more relaxed and enjoyable experience. The landscapes are particularly beautiful in spring with blooming flowers or in autumn with changing leaf colours.

For those interested in outdoor activities like hiking or cycling along the Camino de Santiago, the mild temperatures and lower humidity of spring and autumn make these the most comfortable times. The pathways are less congested, providing a more serene journey through the picturesque Navarre countryside.

Conversely, while summer (July and August) brings warmer weather, it also sees a significant increase in tourists and higher prices for accommodation.
