We were a little put off by the low reviews of this place, but it fit our needs absolutely perfectly. We are study abroad students on a relatively tight budget, so finding a budget hotel walkable to all the main attractions in Oban was key. I wouldn’t say it was luxurious, as some of the facilities were a bit subpar, but it absolutely did the trick for our stay. If you’re planning a trip to Oban, especially if you’ll be making use of the ferry or the train, this is an excellent, safe, relatively clean, and walkable budget hotel. Don’t roll up expecting the Ritz, but it will easily do the trick for almost anyone staying in Oban.

The hotel's location is excellent, as it's close to both the ferry terminal and the bus station. My room (single room) was clean and quiet. When you consider the price compared to the average price of hotel rooms in Oban, you really get a lot for your money. Of course, you can't expect top-notch facilities at this price. Thank you for the pleasant stay!

Clean older room, remodeled a little, nothing fancy, but the price reflects it (58£ i think) and it was fine for just one night. FYI 2 flights of stairs … Parking in front in the street free from 6 pm to 9 am. Local bar downstairs but no noise.

The property was dirty smelling of sewerage. Smoking and drunk people. Beds dirty. We left without staying. A refund was not offered!! Dont even think of going to this place!!

The room was spacious and overall clean, a typical "budget" accommadation in terms of furniture. Location ideal for train station and ferry terminal. Bed was uncomfortable and the live music from downstairs was rather loud and went on till past midnight.

Great location but was noisy in morning near ferry and traffic. The hotel is Victorian and has some charm but is bare bones. Beds were not comfortable

Room was fine - emergency stay after ferry was cancelled. A blind for the Velux window would be good - room was flooded with light from early morning. Not a complaint, more of a suggestion. Location good for ferry services.

The hotel room was ok. Good area of town. We are from Australia where water is very expensive, in this room the shower had to run for an unacceptable time before warm water. Standing naked waiting for hot waternis not much fun, kepp your clothes on people while you eait foe the warm water for a shower.

New name on the outside - “The Clary”. Stayed here for one night. Very affordable price and you get what you pay for. Check in was easy and smooth, just speak with the bar tender. Very happening bar/lounge and “Home of Claroke”. Separate entrance for hotel guests after checking in.

Although there was no smoking signs everywhere. The room stank of smoking. Although it was very quite and booked because it was a lot cheaper than anywhere else.
