Check in was prompt. The room was clean and provided the basics and the staff was friendly. There are many restaurants, coffee shops, bakeries, convenience stores within walking distance. I also could easily get to the plazas and mercados.
Very friendly and helpful staff, specially the lady behind the front desk… We actually came early morning thinking on leaving our luggage to go have breakfast planning on making time for the room to be ready but they actually gave us the courtesy to checking in as soon as we arrived to the hotel ( 10:00 am ) that for us was very nice specially after 6 hours flitting.
Very nice Hotel!!
Location, location, location. It is super close to everything you need or want to see in Oaxaca. The best restaurants/bars in Oaxaca are no more than a 5-20 minute walk.
Nice small hotel. Middle of everything. Breakfast restaurant and evening nice Mazcal bar. Only thing BAD very low shower water pressure and weak WIFI signal. Staff ladies, friendly.
It was close enough to everything but far enough to get some quiet sleep. The hotel is better in person than the pictures. Everything was clean daily. Would go back anytime stayed for 6 nights very reasonable
To say the staff was helpful and accommodating would be a gross understatement. Despite any language issues with my limited Spanish and the staff’s English abilities, we collaborated through communication barriers with the help of Google Translate. Janet did a fine job checking us in after we had been awake for 24 hours. God bless her!
This property is very cute and centrally located in downtown Oaxaca. Near many bars, restaurants, museums, cafes. The beds are phenomenal and the A/C is cold. The attached bar is AMAZING, a do not miss, and the restaurant is very good too. The service at this hotel is impeccable. As a solo female traveler, the single door knob lock was concerning, and I wish there was a safe.

The hotel looks great on the inside and very safe, the walls are very thin so there is so much noise throughout the night. It would be great is there was some shelving in the bathroom and room.
Great location as it was very close to the city center so restaurants, bars, stores were easily accessible. Rooms were great, along with staff, I only dinged the score a little as we were without water for a few hours.
Other than that, I would highly recommend this hotel!
Helpful staff always available - either in the courtyard or office. Drinking water cooler in the office.

The winning point for this hotel is its location, prime center location a couple blocks from Templo de Santo Domingo de Guzmán ... it's a place to rest your head at night after a long day of walking, but don't expect too much of anything else. There's no attention to detail nor to the overall experience like we've had at other hotels and bed and breakfast in the city, and the price reflects it. The hotel is obviously cleaned daily, but the sheets and towels feel old and dingy, the sink and faucet in our room felt not taken care of, rusted. The bed was hard, and the pillows varied, one harder, the other a bit softer. Some of the staff were courteous, but others did the bare-minimum to earn their pay. We had some issues on check-in, and then the AC in our friend's room didn't work and the front desk clerk didn't want to move him, them our other friend's reservation was cancelled months before and they had no idea. Luckily they were to arrive days after us and we asked about their reservation on check-in, so it was able to get handled. Would recommend this hotel for an emergency nights stay, but not for a city vacation. There's also an Argentinian restaurant on the second floor, right next to the hotel's second floor bedrooms, so mind the noise!!

Liked: Cleanliness, staff & service
We were attracted to this hotel because it looked like good value for money considering the location. If those are the two most important factors for you in Oaxaca then Hotel Santo Tomas is a good option but you need to bear in mind the following: There is no safe in the room. The bed is large but very firm and the material of the mattress protector makes it quite sweaty. The water pressure in the shower is poor, especially the hot tap. There is a bar downstairs that plays loud live music until 12am most nights; it was very bassy so you can't expect to sleep until the music has finished, even with ear plugs or white noise. There's a courtyard that patrons of the bar can access and it leads directly to the hotel rooms; this combined with the lack of safe did make me a bit concerned for security of our items etc. Overall I was satisfied with our stay because it was so cheap and the location meant we could pop in and out throughout the day but if I were to return to Oaxaca I wouldn't stay here again.
Our stay was comfortable, and staff were helpful, especially the breakfast crew.
Our room was cleaned daily, which was appreciated.
We did not have wifi or cell service in our room, and we were told that that’s just the way it is, so be mindful of that:
We got great service on the lovely balcony, though!
This is a great place to stay—clean, accessible, affordable, and in the heart of everything.
They should invest in additional WiFi routers so guests can use in their rooms.
Carlos was so helpful, nice, and attentive 🌟🌟🌟
