Nice large home with plenty of room for 13 to 15 people. Definitely a home where a family lives. It was not as clean as all the other VRBO I’ve stayed. You can definitely tell other live there. Check-in and check-out was very easy. Owner changed the dates of our stay because they were returning, but offered total refund if it did not work for us.
The house was as advertised. Communicating with the owner was very easy. The owners request for check out were reasonable and fully communicated. The only issue was the owner had placed multiple plug-ins, and one of our party turned out to be allergic. We remove them and place them on the porch and things were a lot better. I like staying in a place where people actually live. We’ve considered for our next retreat.
The place was unacceptable and we left the property after one hour of trying to find a place to put our food, clothes and toiletries. The listing did NOT tell us that there was a family living there full time with 5 children who just left the place as is with all of their personal belongings. I can give you all kinds of reasons why we did not stay but I think I only have so much room to write my review. This house should not be on VRBO and I will now have to contact them directly as she did not want to work out any compensation for the inconvenience to my family which we had to find a new place to stay which cost us another full price of a rental property. I have been staying in rental properties for the past 8 years and NEVER have I been so upset and disappointed.
The property was a wonderful space for our family, another family who joined us, all 3 of our kiddos, and our two large pups. Perfect home base as we explored the island, lake swimming, beach combing, crabbing, shopping, hiking, and having a great vacay.
Cleanliness was a bit of an issue, but the owner let us know that their family, with five kiddos, live in the house every other week, so it was understandable that there was food left in the fridge and so on... it's definitely a lived-in house. Once we settled in, we appreciated the ease of not having to worry about being spotless ourselves... it took the pressure off and was nice to just be on vacation... although I am a clean freak and can't help leaving a space cleaner than I find it.
We enjoyed having enough room in the yard to tire our pups out with ball play, and the neighborhood was great for walks. Lots of deer and other dogs, so a close eye and leashes are a must.
The firepit was awesome for roasting hotdogs and s'mores.
The owner has the house well stocked with any supplies needed, and was wonderful with communicating.
The beds were SO comfortable... we slept great every night.
The HUGE dining table was great for family meals and games together.
We very much enjoyed our stay, being able to have our pups with us, and room to invite our friends up to join us... that really was a much needed blessing. Our hearts are full.
My extended family enjoyed the house together for a mini family reunion. The house was comfortable, the communication with the hostess was easy and the neighborhood great. We all hope we can stay here again next year, as it was an ideal place to be, in regards to exploring the island.
We absolutely loved this location. The property was spacious and comfortable to have our family there. I applaud the property owner for actively sharing her living space. It’s a different experience from renting an owner’s vacation or rental property. The space was personal and lived in and this owner was brave enough to have us enter into that space. We felt welcomed and well taken care of. Communication was excellent. The use of plug-in odor eliminators was problematic and overwhelming until we found two of them and unplugged them. But that’s a pretty small inconvenience compared to all that we enjoyed!

Cool Spot
Overall this is a beautiful spot. Big yard, ocean view, very walkable, and very peaceful. The house is just very lived in and unfortunately difficult to keep clean. We have stayed in hundreds of short term rentals and this one just didn't feel like a typical rental. We would probably go back, but I would more than likely inquire about renovations and professional cleaning services. Otherwise communication with Staci was great and we loved the location so much.
Convenient location to hiking trails and beaches. But the house was problematic.
We had to vacuum and wet dust the entire lower level before we could bring our luggage in. The house is lived in -- which had positive and negative effects on us. The owner generously gave us access to anything in the kitchen including food. We also had access to children's games and books. On the other hand there was no place to put our belongings, neither clothing nor the food we bought. There were ample large towels, but no hand towels or washcloths. The toilet in the master bedroom en suite was sluggish and when I texted the owner about it, she told me how to work around it. As an aside, families that are not Christian might want to be aware that that the pictures hanging on the walls in multiple rooms are religious.
The property is about 10 minutes from “downtown” Coupeville and a block from the water. It is also right down the street from the State Park. It is great for children with many beds to choose from, video games and toys. The upstairs is best for the adults with a fully stocked kitchen. Whatever cleaning issues the other review had have certainly been rectified. The house was clean. If you are only bringing adults and want to sleep a large group, this may not be the place for you as many of the bed options are multiple twins and bunk beds. The host was easy to work with.

Not worth the cost
Good? Lots of hot water and games/movies for kids, and books to read. Bad? In the middle of remodel, fridge stunk, carpeting filthy, light bulbs out, most windows had no screens to let air in without bugs, toilet doesn’t flush well, not one room is completely painted, non-working things, master bed is hard, couch upstairs is dirty, very much lived in. Feels like you are at a friend’s house only you don’t know the friend well at all. Personal items everywhere!! I paid way too much! That place is not ready to host!

Needs a good cleaning (and other work)
The property could use a professional deep cleaning and new carpets to be truly rental-ready and the outside could use a broom or leaf blower. Inside was dirty - dust and dried food bits in the cabinets, the fridge and freezer smelled like fish, stains on the carpet, mold in the bathrooms. Outside was also not well kept - broken pieces of siding(?) and backboard from the basketball hoop scattered around the driveway area, tree debris on the deck, stagnant water in the formerly-working pond. Also, the owner lives at the property part time, so our stay was more like crashing at a friend's house and less like a proper vacation rental. The location was nice - quiet neighborhood and within walking distance to the beach. If I had to do it all over again, I would not rent this place.
