I took this train ride from Nuwara Eliya to Ella which took about 3 hours, and less than 300 rupees- third class is worth the mild discomfort for the people you meet. And Ella is definitely worth a trip- stunning views and hikes up to Ella Rock and Little Adams Peak.

Don’t miss out!

My Wife and I travel a lot around the world and this is one of our favourite properties. We had a fantastic stay at this property the location on the edge of Lake Gregory is amazing to wake up to each morning. The team go out of their way to make your stay as relaxing as possible - from packed lunches for the train to Ella, to visiting the local organic farm where most of the vegetables come from. The food is also superb, we went with half board and each day was a wonderful discussion about what was available - we had authentic Sri Lankan breakfast and dinners, as well as Indian, Italian and Western. We’ll definitely be back!
