We paid $2,700 for what was clearly sold to us as a 3-day tour, but after payment it was suddenly reduced to only 2 days with no proper explanation or refund. "I would have given it five stars except for a few minor inconveniences such as night lights next to the bed not working, no table and chairs indoors to sit and eat the delicious (breakfast that is delivered although there is a on the balcony), no towel rack near the sink for face towels. Minor issues. The power unreliable but there is a generator which but it will not support the aircon. But there was almost always power at night, and the power doesn't stay off long."

"We really enjoyed our stay at Turaco. The staff were very friendly and attentive, everything was clean and well maintained, and the food was delicious. There were different activities every day, from crafts and pool games to live music in the evenings. A lovely, relaxing atmosphere and a great place to spend a holiday. "The rooms and the grounds are sooo nice and well maintained and cutie. As far as nungwi goes you can get slightly better locations. The food at the restaurant there is SO overpriced for how basic it is. They should change their menu/prices, multiple other guests had that complaint as well. The prices the owner has for excursions are super overpriced so ask anybody else when you’re there for a better deal to do things. The WiFi goes out a lot on the north side of the island and often times when I would get back to the hotel there would be no WiFi or electricity or water. There was no hot water here twice. I woke up one morning with no charge on my phone cause no electricity throughout the night."

"Couldn’t recommend this hotel more! We had an amazing stay at Maisha, the staff were an absolute highlight for us and really made the trip special. A huge shout out to Edward who was always a friendly face with warm conversation and made the best drinks at the bar, he really made our trip memorable! We loved the beach bar and the food and drinks were great. I highly recommend using the TukTuk service to visit local Nungwi & Kendwa beaches, it costs a couple of dollars and is very worth it. The drivers are great and can pick you up whenever needed. The staff are really helpful if you have any questions or need any recommendations on what to do on the island. We loved the couples massage and recommend doing this whilst at the hotel. The hotel is steps away from the Mnarani turtle conservation pond which was a highlight for us, and focuses on turtle welfare and rehabilitation vs a tourist trap."
