Gaffers Cottage - sleeps 12 guests in 5 bedrooms

  • Gaffers cottage has been upgraded over the years and still retains many of the original features, character and charm with exposed beams, brickwork and wall ties.

    There is a well-equipped kitchen with a range cooker and a breakfast area that opens into a generous dining room. The living room opens onto a sunny patio. Our large garden is bounded and divided by old walls and railings into three distinct areas with BBQ, lawns, courtyard and play areas. This property is ideal for a large family or group of friends to enjoy time away to relax and unwind or enjoy a special occasion.

Family Stay

Our second multi generational stay in Gaffers Cottage. The cottage was warm, clean, tidy and had everything we needed. We enjoyed local walks in the snow which was an added bonus.

The setting is marvellous, the facilities first rate, conversion of old buildings retaining their character, and high standards of comfort in the accommodation. I just wish we could have stayed longer.

Wonderful cottage with plenty of space

Spixworth Farm cottages are absolutely wonderful. We have stayed before in other cottages but this is our first time in Gaffers. The cottage is large and gave our group of 10 enough space for everyone. The garden is amazing and a lovely space for bbqs and morning coffee. The other facilities are great fun to and we spent most of our week on site as everything we needed was there. The only issue we had was the main bedroom is attached to the play barn so early morning visits by others guests children woke us as the sound proofing is poor. However that said, we would absolutely go back and completely recommend this lovely cottage.

Just wonderful

This is our 4th year returning to Spixworth Hall cottages and Gaffers cottage .We love it. We choose January when things are quieter and the snowdrops are opening and it reminds us that Spring will return. Its a perfect space to gather with friends and family or all ages. The facilities are very good and we love exploring the grounds and deer spotting. The customer service is excellent and everyone is always friendly and helpful. We hope to return again and again.

Wedding weekend

We had 11 guests staying in Gaffers for our wedding and everyone absolutely loved it, you'd thought of everything to make our weekend so special. We all had such a fantastic weekend and can't thank you enough. The pool, games room and fishing lake were an added bonus.

A wonderful beautiful cottage. Rented 4 cottages for all 26 family members for my partners 50th. Something for all ages to do on site and staff were very helpful with all of our needs. Would definitely stay again.

Beautiful cottage with everything you could possibly need. Lovely countryside setting whilst still being very close to Norwich. Friendly and helpful owners who answer every communication promptly. This is our 3rd year at Gaffers and we will be back next year.

Fantastic family reunion in Gaffers cottage. Something for everyone and such a relaxing place to be. The play barn is great for the kids and there is a modern play park with swings too! We loved the pool too! We will be back!

A gem of a holiday cottage

For a reunion of 14 friends and family Gaffers Cottage is ideal. The play barn is huge and in the grounds the play area, tennis court and walks through the snowdrops made it the perfect destination. It's close to Norwich Airport- we could see the aircraft coming and going on our walks around the estate which the kids loved-moreover we used the airport park and ride to get into Norwich itself. Gaffers comes with a piano, a modern well equipped kitchen, accessible downstairs bathroom and all the rooms in this rambling property were comfortable and spotless. When we stayed the February weather was grim so we lit the log burner and played board games - it felt like Christmas.

Perfect Stay at Gaffers Cottage

Our family had the most wonderful week staying at Spixworth Hall Cottages over Easter. Gaffers Cottage comfortably accommodated 9 adults and 5 young children and the hosts are so attentive and lovely. The good weather meant we made the most of the grounds, the on-site play park, playbarn, fishing lake and swimming pool, and even managed some adult only time in the games room on some of the evenings. It is our second visit and holds a special place in our hearts. We will be back!

Birthday weekend at spixworth

Me and my family stayed at Gaffers to celebrate our mums birthday and we loved it. We’ve stayed at Spixworth cottages a few times before and we always love coming back. The games room is great for the kids, there’s amazing walks to take our dogs on and the house itself is just great and has everything you need. There is always someone on hand to help too if there is ever anything you need. We love it here and we’ll definitely be back.

A lovely stay

We were an Art group from Cambridgeshire and were looking for a large cottage not so far from home. I feel that we hit the jackpot with Gaffers cottage. The cottage was large with a beautiful walled garden. We have stayed in a number of cottages over the years and this one was so well appointed the kitchen contained all the equipment that you could want and had ample crockery and glasses. The site itself is beautiful and so well kept. We used the swimming pool which was great and surprisingly warm. We didn’t use the tennis court but it looked very good. The owners were very kind and as the weather was wet on the first day allowed us to paint in on of the barns this was so kind. Sheehan was so interesting to talk to and gave us some information and history about the site and was also very kind to us. We loved our visit and hope to return next year, Thank you everyone for making the visit such fun and enjoyable.

A Fabulous Stay at Gaffers Cottage

Our family of 10 adults & 5 small children had a fantastic stay at Gaffers Cottage over the Easter break. The place was clean & well-equipped with a brand new kitchen including a great range oven that was ideal for our large family meals. The children absolutely loved the play barn and we spent a lot of time in there as well as doing some lovely walks in the surrounding fields and wooded areas. It’s an ideal location close to Norwich & great for exploring the Norfolk Broads. We loved it so much we are returning next Easter. A wonderful wedding week

Jack, Sheelah and the whole team at Spixworth Cottages were so helpful throughout our entire stay. We feel so lucky to have found the perfect venue for our wedding and to have had all our friends and family stay on site with us. Wonderful place to stay

Everything about our booking with Spixworth Hall Cottages was outstanding. Both before and after our stay, the communication with Kim was wonderful - she was kind, very responsive and welcoming. The information we received about the facilities and the booking platform that we could access once we had reserved were great. Several members of the group arrived easily by public transport from the centre of Norwich; the instructions for drivers were also very clear. Gaffers Cottage was comfortable, spotlessly clean and cosy despite the cold, and our group (three families) enjoyed long walks on the estate, spotting deer, birds and snowdrops that were a welcome sign of spring on the way. The kids loved the play barn, and the grown ups enjoyed pool and darts in the evenings. The kitchen was very well-equipped, making cooking for our large group more manageable. A special thanks as well to the team for kindly arranging the return of a left-behind item. We hope to return to Spixworth Hall Cottages in future, and would recommend booking with them wholeheartedly.

Gaffers Cottage

We all very much enjoyed our stay at Gaffers Cottage. Location is great both logistically and within the grounds of Spixworth Hall. The staff and service were very friendly and always helpful. The swimming pool was great! For an outdoor pool, it was always a very good temperature & very well maintained. Our brother-in-law also hugely enjoyed the private fishing lake. Our (very minor) areas of improvement would be some of the plants/trees within the garden could do with cutting back, particularly by the back gate. The garden furniture could perhaps be updated at some point as some family members struggled a bit with the chairs. Overall, it was a very enjoyable experience & we would definitely return in the near future.

Perfect

My extended family love coming to stay in these cottages for a weekend together. The lovely Kim is super helpful with bookings. Spixworth is a wonderful place to relax. Thank you so much for having us again!
