Search Northern Lagoon hotels

The best area to stay in Northern Lagoon is typically along the main coastal stretch near its most established resorts.

This area offers direct access to the lagoon's calm waters and the Caribbean Sea. It's characterised by a collection of popular hotels and private villas, providing a comfortable base for exploring the natural beauty of the region. Many properties here are designed to offer a peaceful retreat with amenities like private beaches and watersports facilities.

Couples looking for a romantic and secluded getaway will find this area particularly appealing. The emphasis is on relaxation and enjoying the natural surroundings, with opportunities for private dinners by the water, leisurely boat trips, and stargazing. The absence of large crowds ensures a tranquil experience.

Families will also appreciate the convenience and facilities offered in this area. Many resorts cater to families with activities like snorkelling, kayaking, and paddleboarding directly from their beachfronts.

The best time to visit Northern Lagoon is during the dry season, which typically runs from late November to May.

During these months, you'll experience consistently sunny weather and pleasant temperatures, making it ideal for outdoor activities like exploring the lagoon, birdwatching, and visiting nearby Mayan ruins. The drier conditions also mean fewer mosquitoes and clearer waters for swimming and snorkelling. This period is particularly good for those seeking a relaxing holiday with plenty of sunshine and opportunities for water-based excursions.

While the "green season" from June to October brings occasional rain showers, it can also offer a more lush landscape and fewer tourists. If you don't mind a bit of rain, you might find better value on accommodation during this time.
