The best area to stay in North Gola Range is around the Gola River valley, particularly near the town of Kathgodam and its surrounding foothills.

This area serves as the gateway to the North Gola Range and offers a blend of accessibility and natural beauty. Kathgodam is the last major railhead, making it convenient for arrivals. The valley itself is characterised by the Gola River, surrounded by pine and oak forests, offering a refreshing climate and opportunities for outdoor activities.

For couples seeking a tranquil retreat, properties located in the hills slightly above Kathgodam, towards places like Bhimtal or Naukuchiatal, are ideal. These locations offer stunning views of the lakes and mountains, along with a peaceful environment. You'll find boutique hotels and resorts here that provide amenities like spa services and private balconies, superb for a relaxing getaway.

Families will appreciate staying closer to Kathgodam itself, or in the immediate vicinity of the lakes like Bhimtal. This offers easier access to local markets, eateries, and activities such as boating on the lakes or visiting nearby nature parks.

The best time to visit the North Gola Range is during the spring months of March to May and the autumn months of September to November.

Spring offers pleasant weather with temperatures ranging from 15°C to 25°C, making it ideal for outdoor activities like trekking and exploring the local flora. The rhododendron forests are in full bloom, adding a beautiful splash of colour to the landscape. This period is particularly good for families due to the comfortable temperatures and clear skies.

Autumn, from September to November, also provides excellent conditions. The monsoon rains have receded, leaving behind lush greenery and very clear views of the Himalayan peaks. Temperatures are similar to spring, typically between 10°C and 20°C, making it great for hiking and photography. Couples often appreciate the crisp air and stunning vistas during this time, ideal for a romantic getaway.
