8/10 Good
"The room was clean and the staff was very professional and polite. We were there in July with temperatures in the 80’s, so no AC in the entire building made it pretty uncomfortable. It’s a pretty neat old hotel and I’m glad we stayed there."

Frequently asked questions

What is the best area to stay in Norris?
The best areas to stay in Norris, Wyoming, are directly within the Norris Geyser Basin or just outside the park's west entrance in West Yellowstone, Montana.Staying within the Norris Geyser Basin offers unparalleled access to the park's geothermal features. The Norris Campground is a popular option, providing basic facilities like flush toilets and drinking water, but no showers or electrical hook-ups. It's an excellent choice for those who want to be steps away from attractions like the Porcelain Basin and Steamboat Geyser, allowing for early morning or late evening visits when crowds are smaller. This is superb for nature enthusiasts and photographers who prioritise proximity to the park's wonders.Alternatively, West Yellowstone, Montana, just a short drive from the park's west entrance, provides a wider range of accommodation and services. You'll find numerous hotels, restaurants, and shops here. This area is particularly well-suited for families or those seeking more amenities, including options with swimming pools or high-end fitness equipment.
When is the best time to go to Norris?
The best times to visit Norris are late spring (late May to early June) and early autumn (early September to early October). These periods offer pleasant weather and fewer crowds than the peak summer months.Late spring brings the landscape to life with wildflowers, and the wildlife is often more active. Temperatures are generally mild, ranging from 10°C to 20°C, making it comfortable for hiking and exploring the geothermal features. You'll find the trails less busy, allowing for a more serene experience at attractions like the Porcelain Basin.Early autumn is another excellent choice, with crisp air and the stunning transformation of the foliage into golden and red hues. Daytime temperatures are similar to late spring, typically between 10°C and 20°C, though evenings can be cooler. This season is particularly good for photography and enjoying the natural beauty with fewer vehicles on the roads around Norris Geyser Basin. While summer (July and August) is popular, it sees the largest crowds and higher accommodation prices.
