The dinner they serve was really great, one of the best among all my onsen pass experience. But the condition of the hotel is really old. Non of the staff can speak simple English , too hard to communicate.
Over pricing. No bathroom, no dining room, no breakfast available. even when we make the reservation, they said breakfast is included in this price. Hotel staff asked me to contract expedia directly. I read the review from previous customer, they experienced the same situation as me. So, if the hotel did know there is the wrong information provided to customer why they don’t revise it. Why just keep the wrong information on the website and surprised customer when they arrive.
This hotel is a kitty-corner to the Kinugawa Park station. That’s easy to find it enough. There is spacious and fantastic decoration in the lobby. My family was glad to be in this excellent hot spring hotel when we check-in.
Many quality Japanese puppets display in the show window and other places. The corridor and everywhere have a lot of collections. We took some pictures and admired interior furnishings.
All hotel building is secluded in the valley of Kinugawa. Open the big window can see a natural valley scenery view from the room. We four people stayed in a Japanese style bedroom were crowded. But all the things were nice except the river was loud.
The best choice is both breakfast and dinner enjoy at the hotel. Japanese food is always delicious and rich because all the shops on the street will close before at 5 pm even earlier.
Hananoyado Matsuya is not a large hot spring hotel but it’s an excellent and comfortable hotel. If you need peace and privacy to stay a few days, this hotel would be suitable for you.
Nice hotel, a little dated but well looked after, friendly staff but little to no English however they made every effort to service us. Close to JR station, can walk but no shops or restaurants in that area, need to go back one station. Check the inclusion on Expedia, I booked a rate with breakfast but on check-in they advised breakfast was not included so had to pay an extra 2800 yen p/p.
The onsen is excellent especially the outdoor bath.
The hotel provided excellent service by the staff member. On the checkin day, Watanabe-san sent me email to confirm my arrival time and dinner time. We had to change to later time that they have no problem to accommodate. Watanabe-san also came to the train station to pick us up by car without us asking. It was so thoughtful because it was dark and freaking cold.
The food was excellent as well. We were well fed. The open air onsen bath is spacious that you don't feel crowded at all.
We enjoy our stay at the hotel
the hotel was amazing especially with their excellence customer service and Kaiseki dinner and breakfast, but without basis Japanese language you will find it difficult to communicate with the staff as they dont speak English at all.
The location is quite convenient. The room is big and the food is awesome. Also, they reply for my enquiry via e-mail quickly which helps a lot!
It may be not conenient for foreigners who do not have basic knowledge on japanese speaking or readinh , but worth a try!
