Wonderful Inn within walking distance to most everything. Off the beaten track so it's quiet and relaxing. Parking is a bonus and the breakfast was amazing.
The property is lovely, well located, walkable. Or room was clean, spacious and had beautiful decor. Breakfast was delicious and the nightly sweets were a great touch. And the on site manager was helpful and charming.
Beautiful inn with very responsive staff. Loved the jacuzzi rooms and breakfast. The gas fireplace was perfect for a freezing day. Really great area, super quiet, and an easy walk to all the Newport shops and restaurants.
The property was immaculate. The in keeper was very kind and helpful with things to do in Newport. I highly recommend this and will be back for another visit for sure.
Very clean, and convenient to many points of interest. Price seems high vs other options.
No employees present most of the time.
Breakfast is included but for price not very good. Given the amount of other options we would not choose the Hill Top again
We spent 2 nights at the Inn. The location was so perfect - we were able to walk to the Wharf area for activities and restaurants but also was far enough away from how busy that area can be on weekends. There is a coffee place just down the block but not really needed as the breakfast at the inn was delicious. The onsite parking was so convenient. Liz was so welcoming and made us feel at home. We were in the first floor room which had a huge bathroom and shower and the bed was very comfy. I will suggest the Inn to everyone I know going to Newport!
The Hilltop Inn is our favorite place to stay in Newport! The Inn is beautiful. The staff are very welcoming and care about the Inn and their visitors. It is also VERY clean and provides a safe parking area. Great location to walk to restaurants, shops, the harbor and the ocean. We continue to visit every year!
The facility was lovely. We stayed in this B & B many times with previous owners. Was excited to return...but was very disappointed. The first morning we went down for breakfast the young lady came and introduced herself. Very pleasant. She said she would bring us breakfast and in less than a minute delivered 2 plates with... a sccop of cheesy potatoes, a pie slice of quiche and a slice of bacon cut in half. The food was not even warm. I barely touched it and my huisband who is allergic to eggs, ate the bacon from both our plates. It was all store prepared not freshly made in house. For the price of this place it should have been fresh!!! Also there was no juice to be had anywhere and we had to make our own coffee with a one cup kerig machine. So for the next 2 days we went elsewhere for breakfast. I will never stay here again. As for the staff, we never saw anyone, including the person cleaning rooms, for the rest of our stay. When we left there was noone to give keys to, so we left them in the kitchen on the island.
Beautiful Inn! Super clean and staff were very accommodating. Great location to walk to all the Newport attractions. We loved it and will not stay anywhere else!
Kudos to Liz and her staff for the wonderful service. Superb location, within walking distance to Thames St, tourist-spots and restaurants. The inn is very inviting and cozy.
We enjoyed our 4-night stay at The Hilltop Inn in Newport. We stayed in the Kay Room and were highly impressed by the cleanliness of the room, and the kindness of the room staff in providing an ice bucket and glasses (without being asked!) when we brought back a bottle of wine from a local vineyard. The decor and the grounds of the building are lovely and well kept. The back courtyard is also a nice place to hang out with a coffee in the morning, and the entrance to the house was a cool relief from the crazy heat outside. Breakfast is served daily, but we only partook of that on our first day, preferring to wander down the street in search of a cold brew coffee and a breakfast sandwich. The location is convenient in that it is far enough away from the hubbub of the waterfront area, but close enough to walk to it. A big hotel across the street has weddings regularly, but the only real noise we heard was some occasional music from that. It is a well-trafficked road, though, so be prepared for morning trash trucks and sometimes loud bass from cars at night. Parking can be tight at the Inn, depending on the type of vehicle you drive, and depending on how others park beside you. We only had one morning where it was a bit too close for our liking, but from then on we were able to safely open and close the car doors without dinging anyone, and without concern of being dinged. We would stay again. Note: children are allowed.
Our stay was very comfortable and we were very impressed how at-home we felt. The overall appearance and cleanliness was impeccable and every one of our needs was met. I would recommend the Hilltop Inn over a chain hotel any day.
The homemade breakfast was delicious as were the treats that are out at night. It is within walking distance of dozens of great restaurants and attractions. Off street parking is terrific.
The house is beautiful! Very well maintained and gorgeous with all original woodwork, built in cabinets, etc. The Bellevue Suite is amazing – sitting room, huge bedroom and a bathroom to rival any spa. (The only potential issue with the suite is that it’s at the corner of the house closest to the intersection. If you have an aversion to mild street noise, you may want another room. This didn’t bother me, as I’m used to some street noise at night and our windows were closed due to cold weather.) Breakfast was delicious and homemade. The staff was friendly and welcoming. And the location can’t be beat – within walking distance to the area with shops, restaurants, and attractions. It’s just a small drive to the Breakers and other mansions. I can’t wait to return!
