We stayed at Appletree Cottage for a week from 22nd November 2024.

We stayed at Appletree Cottage for a week from 22nd November 2024.The cottage was cold on our arrival, we think this was down to the program settings, as we had to keep adjusting the temperature during the day. Once on the cottage warmed up quickly. We thought the cottage was extremely clean, this is a credit to the housekeeper. The kitchen is extremely well equipped, and a very good size. The stairs are steep, but you expect this in an old cottage, we have stayed in other cottages with worse stairs. I managed to negotiate them, and I’m recovering from a broken leg.The main bedroom is very large, with an amazingly comfortable bed. We didn’t use the second bedroom as there was only the two of us.The bathroom is again large, with clawfoot bath, and separate large shower, however after my wife went to use the shower, it leaked into the kitchen, so we weren’t able to make use of it for the rest of our stay. The TV signal was intermittent, but we put this down to the weather, high winds and rain, was the norm.Other guests have mentioned the road, the cottage is very close to the carriageway, and there are no footpaths for quite a way into the village. Most of the traffic ignores the 30MPH limit and illuminates the speed sign. We had taken torches with us, thankfully. The Crown, this is the local pub, we were made very welcome there, the staff were all very friendly, and the Sunday Roast is not to be missed, wish it was our local. The garden is huge, and during better weather would definitely be well used. The garden is fairly steep. The gate from the garden goes directly onto the road, perhaps a bolt to ensure it can’t be opened easily, would make it more secure.
