Mariners cottage has become a well known home on the island dating back to the early 1920's. The cottage attracts several visitors and pedestrians walking by. The Cottage is one of the few on the island that will still take you back to its heritage though without depriving you of the luxuries of today. This 2nd story cottage is totally private with its own entrance and 1 covered parking space. There is one large bonus/bedroom with two queen beds adjacent to a full bath. The Bedroom overlooks the cottage courtyard. The space also offers a main living room equipped with an electric fireplace. A fully functioning kitchen with new appliances adjoins the living room. The home is fully stocked to include: dining and cookware, linens pillows and blankets, towels, iron, etc. There is an onsite washing machine and dryer free of charge. Enjoy an inviting outdoor patio with dining furniture for 4. Bicycles, water toys, and all the excursions you can imagine are available within walking distance!

The lower unit with accommodations for 4 additional guests is also available upon request if you have a larger party and would like to have both. This would include an additional complete home with kitchen, dining, living space, office, bedroom and full bath, as well as a large downstairs courtyard with hot tub. One additional parking space also included.

Best Cottage on Balboa Island

I’ve been staying on Balboa Island at least 3 times a year for the past 30 years, and this updated cottage is one of the best beach cottages my wife and I have ever rented! Excellent price point and a beautiful remodel with a lot of space for two adults.

We enjoyed our 3 day stay at Mariners Cottage. We liked the location being close to both Marine Street and the Balboa Island ferry. We loved that we were able to bring our small dog and appreciated the pet-friendly option.

Awesome stay

I loved this little cottage. It felt like it had tons of space for such a small area. It was warm and cozy when we needed it to be, but refreshing with all the windows open. Close to everything. We loved our stay!

Love Balboa Island!

Our first trip to Balboa Island was fantastic! The cottage was beautiful and had everything we needed. We loved walking around the island on the sea wall sidewalk every morning. We highly recommend this cottage and the area. We will be back.

SUMMER VACATION IN SOCAL

Had a wonderful week on Balboa Island. Surfing, Paddle Boarding, Boating, Golf, & Shopping. The apartment was clean and spacious enough to accommodate our family. Chase was a great host and made sure we had everything we needed to enjoy our stay. Would definitely stay again.

Such a beautiful stay

My husband and I have never been to California before and this area was recommended by family. We would come back in a heartbeat! This property is walking distance to so much and we spent so much time outside! The property had everything we needed including the kitchen that was stocked with things to cook with! This the third time we have stayed at this apartment. Location is perfect for a stay at Balboa Island. Very clean and comfortable. Everything you need is there. Parking is included. We plan to return. Property manager is always a text away.

We used to live on Balboa Island, so coming here was like coming back home. The cottage was very comfortable, and in a great location. I had forgotten how often planes flew over however! I guess you get used to that. Our host was gracious! We would definitely come back!

My wife and I are seniors. We found it a very nice, newly remodeled unit. Well designed space and well appointed. Very well equipped kitchen. Tons of storage space. Excellent beds. Note that the unit is up a flight of stairs.

Cannot say enough good things about this rental. I don't love vacation rentals and have been avoiding, but took a chance on this trip and I am SO glad we did. We checked in late evening and had no trouble locating everything. The directions were clear. Fresh, clean, and every single thing we needed was at an arm's reach. We were very comfortable. Walkability to the ferry was perfect. And it goes without saying, Balboa Island at Christmas is MAGICAL! Thank you for the wonderful stay, we hope to be back soon!

Most perfect and fantastic rental in the most perfect location - walking distance from everything!!

This VRBO rental contains EVERYTHING you need for an extremely comfortable stay. You feel at home the moment you walk in the door as it is very tastefully furnished and minimally decorated so it feels like a hotel room - there is no “personal clutter” which can often make you feel like you have to walk on your toes while staying there. This is a classy. beautifully renovated unit within close proximity of Balboa “downtown”, the ferry to the beach, and a short walk to the main land across the pretty bridge that connects it. We WILL be back!!

Another Great Getaway

We always enjoy our week at Chase’s cottage. We celebrated Mother’s Day, had beautiful weather and were lucky enough to add a couple of extra days to our vacation. We looked forward to having coffee in the morning and a glass of wine at night out on the new deck furniture. Until next time!!
