Glacier Peak Resort

Glacier Peak Resort

8/10 Good
"Lovely and peaceful location. Less than 10 mins from Marblemount so it’s great if you’re looking to do the Cascade Pass. Room was well-stocked with toiletries/tea/coffee etc. However, I did find the table and chairs to be a bit flimsy, with one of the chairs practically unusable. As well as this, the Wi-Fi was very weak, and only worked every now and again (though I was told this before check-in, so I appreciated the warning). Overall, I really enjoyed my stay here, and would stay here again"

Glamping Dome w/ Hot-tub & Kitchenette, 15 min to North Cascades National Park!

Glamping Dome w/ Hot-tub & Kitchenette, 15 min to North Cascades National Park!

10/10 Excellent
"What a fun and unique stay! I brought my two kids (8 and 10) and we all squeezed into the queen bed because we were so excited to stay in the dome. It was a great location for exploring the North Cascades and relaxing in the hot tub under the trees. The dome is extremely well equipped with dishes, fridge, microwave, heating and cooling and even a wood stove! It’s was clean, the hosts were so helpful, and our dog loved sniffing around the property. A must stay!"

Secluded Forest Cabin w/ Hot Tub & Private Waterfall

Secluded Forest Cabin w/ Hot Tub & Private Waterfall

10/10 Excellent
"The cabin was perfect. We wish we could’ve spent more time there but between hikes and traveling we did the best we could. We always plan ahead and try to take anything we may need, but it was great to see the host’s plan the same way just in case you forget something. The only issue we had was the upstairs shower leaked water under the shower door onto the floor. After one of us noticed it, we cleaned it up and just used the main floor shower. The setting is great. It was about a one hour drive to the Cascade Pass-Sahale Arm hike which was pretty standard for our lodging and hiking spots around our Washington vacation."

"Great location for access to North Cascades. Not sure how old the cabin is, but it appears like new and was exceptionally clean. Grill was clean and in great shape to use which is something we’ve found lacking at other locations."

"Great place to base a family hiking vacation from. Super up-to-date, clean and comfortable. 4 people, not couples had more than enough space and enjoyed cocktails overlooking the river and dinners we made together in a well equipped and modern kitchen following long days of hiking in the park. The host was easy to deal with and very direct with her instructions. Be sure to bring all your groceries with you as the trade off for being in such a beautiful secluded place is having a long drive to get any real groceries. I would rate this property very highly."

What is the best area to stay in Newhalem?
While Newhalem itself is a very small village with limited accommodation options, the best area to stay for exploring the North Cascades National Park, which Newhalem is part of, is the larger nearby community of Marblemount.Marblemount serves as a practical gateway to the national park, located just off State Route 20, the North Cascades Highway. It offers a few lodging choices, including comfortable inns and cabins, along with basic amenities like a general store and a few eateries. It's a quieter base compared to more bustling towns, making it ideal for those seeking a peaceful retreat before or after a day of outdoor activities. For those planning to spend most of their time hiking, fishing, or enjoying the scenic drives within the national park, Marblemount is an excellent central point. Many trailheads and scenic overlooks, such as those leading to Ross Lake or Diablo Lake, are easily accessible from here. It's particularly well-suited for active couples or solo travellers who appreciate being close to nature without being completely isolated.
When is the best time to go to Newhalem?
For the best weather and access to outdoor activities, the ideal time to visit Newhalem is from late spring to early autumn, typically May through September.During these months, the North Cascades National Park Highway (Highway 20), which is the main artery through the area, is fully open. This allows for easy access to trailheads, scenic viewpoints, and the various lakes and visitor centers within the park. The wildflowers are in bloom in May and June, offering stunning photo opportunities, while the golden larches in late September provide a spectacular display of autumn colours. These shoulder seasons also tend to be less crowded than the peak summer months.Families travelling with children will find July and August to be the most convenient.
