This home has a unique history of early Americana. The property was originally built in 1860 as a button factory. Early American fashions of the late 1700's to mid-1800's required many buttons on both male and female garments. Buttons were even essential to underwear, shoes, corsets and women's basque waist. Buttons of the time period were made of ivory, bone, shell, wood, stone, glass, whale bone or animal horn. This property was originally built as a factory, producing and selling buttons to clothiers of the Guilford and CT shoreline area. The colonial character of this property has been preserved, yet it features the modern conveniences you expect in a vacation home.
The price is right for this house! We ensure the property is clean, crisp, welcoming and affordable for guests.

Mia This property was perfectly situated As we had a wedding in Branford and did not want to pay for three hotel rooms! It is well located, only a few minutes walk to the town center in Guilford. There was plenty of room for 5 adults, wifi certainly appreciated. We spent some lovely mornings and evenings on the enjoyed our visit very much.

'We had a wonderful time at this lovely home in Guilford. We found the home to be cozy, comfortable and beautifully decorated. We will definitely stay here again in the future. We loved being able to walk to town to the Green, shoppes, restaurants, etc. I would definitely recommend this home to my friends and family. And the woman we worked with was also so sweet and helpful.'

1) sweet place with good kitchen tho we barely used
2) not for elderly or disabled
3) no hot water after 1 shower
4) some lights didn’t work
5) nice yard and porch
6) bathrooms down stairs not next to bedrooms - be prepared for the late night walk

We had a wonderful week at the Button House. The house had everything we needed and the location was extremely convenient to the beach and stores. Having multiple beach passes was a godsend since we had both early and late risers in our group. The house was immaculate. Just one suggestion. The only silverware was a set of six table settings - it would be wonderful to have more. There were six of us, so we had to wash silverware after every meal, even if the dishwasher was nearly empty.

The property is very quaint and on a deadend street close to town. Definitely within walking distance. Center of town has shops and restaurants. During our stay there was an art festival so that was nice. The home had room air conditioning on the main and upstairs which kept us cool on all levels. The deck has several sitting areas that we used. The kitchen was well stocked. The bath on the main had ample towels and plenty of hot water in shower. The upstairs had a tub shower but all used the shower on the main. The beds were very comfortable. There was an issue getting into the property because the instructions were outdated in terms of code to get in and landlord’s phone number, but her new number was listed elsewhere and we were able to reach her and get in after a short while. She was quick to respond to contact and pleasant.

Two words perfectly describe this property. Charm and Character seasoned with history. It is a comfortable place to be, and you feel at home the minute you walk in the door. The 4 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms was just what our group of 7 needed. Be sure to look at the painted door in one of the 1st floor bedrooms. The kitchen has all you need to make a feast. On Christmas day we cooked a 15lb stuffed turkey with 4 side dishes, gravy, and an apple crumble. We could've done a pie but nobody wanted to make a crust. There was 9 of us for dinner. We used the kitchen table as a buffet line, took the chairs into the living room, and ate dinner in front of the working fireplace. Kinda perfect. The house is very close to the town center. Just a short walk to the green and wonderful shops. Get a sandwhich from the market, you won’t be disappointed. The owner Yvette is pleasant and quick to respond to your messages. I know this sounds like your typical be nice review. But you can feel and see the love, care, and attention that she has put into this place. There is thought and soul here. It'll make your heart feel good. Thanks Yvette

We had a lovely vacation in Guilford. Our family of 6 adults and 2 young children enjoyed the house, though it was lacking many things such as toilet paper, hand soap, hand towels, garbage bags. Things listed on the property details were not present (outdoor shower, additional tables outside). With some more attention to detail, this house can be really excellent, but so many minor but important things have been overlooked. I emailed the owner about our concerns but have not received a response.
High points are the location - walkable to the adorable center of town, drivable to the main commercial center (Walmart, supermarket, etc). Recommend Bufalina and Ashley's Ice Cream. Walkable to the beach, though with all our supplies we chose to drive. Large back deck and backyard that was perfect for our young children. Appliances all worked well and we ate most meals at the house without problems.
While our stay was overall enjoyable, I would have a hard time recommending this house to others without knowing that attention had been paid to many items I emailed the owner about.

We enjoyed our stay at the Purple Button Factory home. We had ample space and all the items needed for every day use. We loved the location as it was central to all our day trips. The place was immaculate. The furnishings were quaint and fun. I felt like I was staying in my grandmother’s home with modern necessities such as a large flat screen tv, large refrigerator and large washer and dryers. We adored the fun art hanging through out the home. We wished all the windows had screens so we could have enjoyed the night breezes. We went through some trial and error to locate outlets the would hold the charging blocks for our phones and iPads, but we were finally able to use the outlets in the kitchen with reliable results. On humid days the front door would swell and locking and unlocking the front door was a challenge. My daughter became the designated doorman as she had the best results. There were four of us and we never had any issues with hot water when taking showers. Eating breakfast in the cozy kitchen was a wonderful daily event. The location was close to town and very quiet. It was so nice to be with in walking distance of the Guilford Town Green. We have very fond memories of our stay in this lovely home.

The house is comfortable and beautifully clean. There were five adults and one infant in our group, and all were happy with the arrangements. Yvette was very gracious to allow us to check in early when we arrived sooner than expected. She even went over and cranked up the air conditioners, a blessing on that 90+ degree day.
