The Most Romantic Creekside Cabin - with Hot Tub and Privacy
Tara is a romantic and elegant cabin on 30 private acres of woodland.
The luxurious one room cabin has wooden beam ceilings and floors, surrounded by windows with green tree-filled views and creek frontage. It boasts a fully equipped kitchen and everything needed to cook a gourmet meal. Down bedding with 100% cotton linens. French doors open onto multi-leveled decks (hot tub) overlooking the creek. It is THE place to relax and recharge in serene beauty and comfort.
The creek below the deck has private swimming holes, waterfalls, and large granite flat rocks for sunbathing. This is a “too good to be true” place to get away from it all.
Sit by the cozy wood stove in winter Relax on the sunny deck in spring. Float in private swimming holes in summer.
Enjoy the camp at Lover's Pool, with chairs, floats, chaise lounges, and an umbrella. Bring the picnic tote, a towel, reading material, and stay for hours in Heaven. The creek is completely PRIVATE for cabin guests only.
Historic Nevada City is just a 10 minute drive. Dine, shop, hike and explore the area. Or just enjoy a slow and peaceful day at the cabin, lying in the sun, sitting near and floating in the creek, reading or napping by the fire or on chaise lounges. Evenings and sunsets are sweet in the fading light of the day - while enjoying a glass of wine on the deck or soaking in the hot tub.
Sierra Nevada mountains, LakeTahoe, Donner Lake and the historic town of Truckee are an easy hour away.
An outdoor motion-activated Security Camera is mounted on a PG&E pole adjacent to the driveway. (It monitors only the road and cabin driveway. Not the cabin itself)

This was a great place to relax, and get away from it all. We loved the secluded property and private creek access. We spent our anniversary here and it was perfect. Alas our trip was too short.
Truly a unique, beautiful and peaceful property about 10 minutes outside of downtown Nevada City -- surrounded by trees, mossy rocks, and creek views, with many visiting wild turkeys throughout our stay !!
This cabin is one of a kind! Nestled in amongst the trees with private swimming holes, it is a perfect location to relax and unwind. My husband and I spent our 30th anniversary at Tara and we will definitely go back! The property manager made the trip so easy. Very responsive! 100% recommend booking this property!

The property was exquisite. Like a dream. So private and so beautiful. Sitting under the stars at night in the hot tub was amazing. Exploring the creek was amazing. Never saw another human. Just what I needed. Can't wait to go again
Staying at Tara was an amazing experience. Everything was exactly what we were looking for to get away for the weekend! The cabin was spacious, the kitchen had everything we needed to prepare meals including spices and condiments (except butter), the couch was so comfortable, there were extra blankets, towels, toilet paper and even a first aid kit. The privacy was amazing, it was like being in our own little world. My husband and I enjoyed the hot tub (and skinny dip) and I took a relaxing bath in the generously sized tub both nights we stayed. The hike down to the creek from the deck in back was steep but worth it, to a small pond where we came across two wild minks (yes they were minks, the area is at the fringe of there geographic range)! But we spent the majority our time at a swimming hole called “the baths” which was a much easier hike to an amazing rock formation the creek ran through, the picture doesn’t do it justice. Believe me, this place is highly rated for a reason and you will not be disappointed!
Mother Nature at her finest. We were able to thoroughly unwind in the serenity of the private streams, swimming holes, and waterfalls. The secluded cabin was like an elegant tree house with floor to ceiling windows perfectly showcasing the breathtaking views of the surrounding trees. The hosts were very helpful, welcoming, and available for questions. The location is off the beaten path but also a short drive to beautiful Nevada City. This property is a magical place and I can't wait to return.
My husband and I fell in love with this place. As soon as I stepped out on to the deck I cried due to the sheer beauty and remoteness. It was our escape from the world and news and awful things people do to one another. We felt like we had a spiritual retreat. The creek was wild and pure. We didn’t leave the cabin other than the first night to get groceries. Then we reveled in the natural beauty and solitude. The cabin had everything we needed to cook full meals. We loved the hot tub under the twinkling sky. You sure can see a lot more stars here. Everything about the cabin was comfortable. We can’t wait to return.
The cabin is situated perfectly above the river.
It is very relaxing with the sound of water rushing below with just enough presence to put you to sleep and that’s with the windows open!!
No shades, just big windows to let nature in!!
Eerily quiet. 2 trails to the river, 1 easy 1 a tad more down hill. We are seniors and did both.
Kitchen well equipped with modern appliances
BBQ was perfect.Bed was comfortable and bath well equipped with plenty of soaps, lotions etc
We highly recommend turning off the cell phone
for a few days and become one with nature. Did not hear or see anyone the entire 3 days!!

One of the best we’ve ever stayed at! Pictures and description of the cabin are accurate to what you’ll see. Our trip was 3 nights, and we didn’t leave the property at all. Truly secluded and private but so much you can do there. Gazing at the unobstructed views and creek. Sitting in the hot tub, walking the trails, exploring the outdoors, BBQing, yoga on the deck, and just taking in the peace. We had some rain but staying indoors was relaxing because there’s a firewood stove and windows all around, so you’re still immersed in the trees. The cabin was clean, had plenty of kitchen supplies, and we loved the bathroom amenities. I took advantage of taking a hot epson salt bath in the large bathtub and starred out into the forest. They truly thought of everything. We were surprised by the extra things they had available, those things we sometimes forget or just things to make the trip at ease. You’ll see once you experience the cabin for yourself.
Exceptional cabin overlooking rock Creek. The sound of the creek hit you once you get out of your car and doesn’t leave Your thoughts until your miles away. Truly, a magical place the pictures on the listing do not do it justice just how beautiful and serene the places if you’re looking for a hustle and bustle people around cars going by hearing other voices this is not the place for you. The whole property is extremely private with not a soul to be seen, the actual cabin had every amenity and touch of a five star hotel if the creek that’s just below the cabin was open to the public. It would be mauled with people but having your own private with multiple places to swim and hang out is truly unbelievable and every direction all you see is nature , we came to the cabin to escape the chaos of the city and never wanted to leave downtown Nevada city is only 15 minutes away by car in case you forget something but if you go just bring whatever food you need to to get by and you’ll never wanna leave your whole stay. Highly recommended
Pro: The seclusion was amazing - views of the trees from big windows, sound of the rushing creek when sitting outside, very little extraneous noise. The cabin itself is so cute and super clean. Very well appointed kitchen. Comfy bed, lots of hot water, just lovely.
Con: Hot Tub noise (we left more tired than when we came due to the constant on/off of the hot tub - hardly any sleep). The owner's instructions require you to never turn off the hot tub. And, we couldn't open the windows by the bed due to the heater exhaust being under the window. Owner's instructions require you to not open the window if heater is on. We couldn't use the woodstove because it wasn't the season - but we used it anyway the second night so we could try and drown out the hot tub noise with the lovely creek sound.
Our conclusion was that the ideal time to come is the warmer months when you don't need the heat and the hot tub wouldn't constantly come on to overcome the cold of the night.
We absolutely enjoyed our stay! The cabin was amazing & the creek & views were beautiful. We can’t wait to come back again! A hidden gem & a perfect weekend escape.
Entire place was great, even in the August heat of 80 degrees, it was so nice to spend time down by the creek, a quick jump in and out of the water was plenty. We thought we'd go into town for meals, but ended up cooking and staying in–eating lunch at the creek and dinner up on the deck. Can't wait to visit again!
This was an amazing place to stay! Beautiful views, fun things to do if you want to stay in and close to town, if you want to go out. I’d definitely go back there again.
As John Muir put it. "I went into the forest to lose my mind and find my soul." This magical place has become one of our favorite stays. If you want to unwind, relax, find yourself and hust revonnect with nature this is an absolutely beautiful accomodation. It's everything described in the listing if not more. Linda is an amazing hostess. The home is immaculate and stocked with everything you would need. Now for the surrounding grounds...photos do not do it justice. Stunning!!
We spent a long weekend here for our 15 year wedding anniversary and it was such a great property. Off the beaten path with plenty of privacy but still a short drive to town for a nice dinner.
