We spent two nights here on our tour of the North Island. The rooms were so cute and had a real cottage feel. We had two rooms that were basically the same. The bathrooms were small but functional. There was a fridge, but no microwave. The single beds could be rolled together and the loft was adorable with a view of the night sky. We were disappointed that the hot tubs were not open into the dark of the night. It would have been heaven to sit late at night and view the stars from that vantage point. Perhaps the property is worried about noise and parties, but visitors are missing out on a great opportunity to see the stars away from all the city lights. Neither of the tubs had jets working to full capacity, one barely worked and the other did not work at all, but a good hot soak after a long day on the trail was still welcomed. It was especially nice that the hotel restaurant offered a backpackers lunch that you could order the night before to take on the trail with you. We took advantage of that! We ate in the restaurant both nights for supper and enjoyed a cold beer and wine from the bar. The food was excellent. We were disappointed that you could not order breakfast a la carte. They only offered a breakfast buffet. We had to go to town for some peanut butter, honey and bread to have breakfast before our hike. It doesn't make sense to fill up on a big breakfast before going out for a day of strenuous exercise.
