The staff at this hotel were all so kind and helpful. The rooms were super clean and so comfortable and modern. The onsen in the balcony was also super relaxing and we really enjoyed it. The food though was okay and nothing special but the overall experience was amazing.
This is a very high class hotel with Michelin rated restaurant. The whole property was once a historical villa, the garden of which is still part of the hotel. The food is excellent. The restaurant is in a separate building down the hill from the hotel. It's a few minutes pleasant walk through a small bamboo forest. If lacking mobility, the staff will drive you in the van. Nara Park is bordering the property, and you can walk to many of Nara's famous sites in 10 or 15 minutes if you're inclined to. The rooms are spacious and well designed (the hotel is only a few years old). Rooms have a large private onsen bath on the balcony. Staff are attentive and welcoming.
Stunning Hotel, Incredible Food and 5 star service. I count myself one of the lucky ones to have had this hotel experience. Hope to be able to return someday.
Just had the most relaxing stay at the Fufu Nara. The property is exquisite. The staff was absolutely lovely - some of the best service we’ve experienced on our travels. Breakfast and dinner were top notch (we were able to experience both the Japanese and Teppanyaki options - do both if you can).
Our room was spacious, immaculate and perfectly appointed. The onsen was so relaxing.
Nara Park is a short walk away.
We hope to return to the Nara Fufu on future trips!
The room, food, environment, services everything are excellent. The air-con is a bit too cold and can’t adjust the wind direction. If the onsen can provide shuttle or traffic’s services will be perfect. Excellent service.

This very expensive hotel backs up to a road.
The restaurant is a separate building down a hill so you take a shuttle or a nighttime walk a deep sloped stair outdoors. There are no services at the hotel for tea or a glass of sake or wine. Only a whiskey bar. They carry no tea except Japanese green tea. If you ask for fruit rather than the menu dessert, they say they have no fruit,
It is extremely difficult to communicate with the hotel. When I was trying to confirm the hotel I finally contacted Expedia. Expedia misunderstood a message which made it even more complicated. Calling from the USA does not work and no emails ( I sent 6) were answered. I think it’s just too complicated to deal with them and I recommend finding another hotel. Even our guide said that whether she called them she would get someone who couldn’t find our reservation or was at the main 800 number and knew nothing. There were lots of papers offering us extras but no map explaining how to get to or walk in the surrounding park.
